Gulf war 25th anniversary battle set THE BOX CONTAINS: M1A1 Abrams - AH-1W Supercobra - T-62 - Mi-25 Hind-D On August 1990, the Iraqi troops invaded Kuwait without notice. The reaction was immediate with the United Nations that declared a Resolution placed economic sanctions on Saddam Hussein’s Government. More than 30 States, led by United States, deployed forces to create a Coalition with the purpose to expel Iraqi troops from Kuwait. The war began with an aerial and a naval bombardment on 17 January 1991 and after 5 weeks it was followed by a ground assault on 24th February. After few days, the Coalition forces, led by General Norman Schwarzkopf, thanks to a clear technological superiority and an excellent level of co-ordination between the various armed forces involved, were able to defeat the Iraqi forces A cease-fire was declared 100 hours after the ground campaign started. Staghound MK I late version Italeri Type: Military vehicles Period: Second World War Country: Great Britain Skill: 3 Model Dim.: 15,9 cm PHOTO ETCHED FRET - METAL GUN BARREL The Staghound armoured car was conceived in the US at the start of WW2, based on a British specification which required a wheeled reconnaissance vehicle with a high level of protection, therefore armour plated, well-armed, and highly mobile. The Chevrolet design proposed a large armoured car which, following an extended programme of assessment and testing, went into production in late 1942, too late to be sent to British forces engaged in North Africa. Allied forces were to receive the Staghound in the Spring of 1943 and they were used in the Italian campaign by British and Polish armies In spite of the impressive performance of this vehicle it was not adopted by the US army and so the 3,000 units produced were used solely by British and Commonwealth forces. The latest 1/72 model kit from Dragon is a Panther Ausf.G variant fitted with steel road wheels. Steel-rimmed “silent bloc” wheels of 800mm diameter, which saved on dwindling supplies of rubber, were introduced in a very limited number of vehicles produced by MAN in September 1944, and again in a batch dating from March-April of 1945 (introduced from chassis no. 121052). Such steel wheels had been successfully used on late-model Tiger I tanks and also on the Tiger II. These steel road wheels were also to be standardized on the updated Panther Ausf.F, a tank that never reached fruition. The new Dragon kit of such a Panther Ausf.G with steel wheels has re-engineered features, the most obvious example of which is the new steel road wheels, which are accurately reproduced in plastic. The inclusion of these wheels gives the Panther a whole new look. The rest of the tank lives up to Dragon’s uncompromising standards of quality and engineering excellence too, with widespread use of slide-mold technology. Indeed, this 1/72 scale Dragon kit is an absolute pleasure to assemble, and it offers model lovers even more options in building the ever-popular Panther G. Per saperne di più
