The Vergeltungswaffe 2 ("Retaliation Weapon 2", or V-2) was one of Germany's wonder weapons, and it was certainly revolutionary at the time. It holds the distinction of being the world’s first long-range ballistic missile, and rockets were used widely against London and later Antwerp. Indeed, more than 3,000 V-2s were launched from September 1944 onwards, resulting in the deaths of some 7,250 people. The V-2 was also known technically as the A4, and it was the progenitor of all modern rockets. A V-2 could reach a maximum altitude of 88km before beginning its ballistic free-fall trajectory. One of the key designers behind the liquid-fuelled rocket project was Wernher von Braun. The 12,500kg and 14m-long rockets were constructed by prisoners at Mittelwerk, and they were fired from mobile launchers that proved difficult for Allied aircraft to target. Per saperne di più -

SUPER DECALS SHEET The twin-engine high swept wing Douglas RB-66 Destroyer entered in service in the mid- 50s to equip the USAF photo-reconnaissance squadrons. Derived, as the Douglas B-66 bomber version, from the A-3 Skywarrior, it had adopted a lot of changes compared to the US Navy aircraft. Thanks to the two J71 turbojet engines, the Destroyer was able to reach a max speed of 940 Km/h and guarantee an operative range of 1,800 miles. The equipment for the reconnaissance were installed in the loading bombs bay. A lot of RB-66s had been used by the USAF Squadrons located in Great Britain, Germany and Japan during the escalation of the Cold Wars proving their effectiveness in the intelligence and recon duties. Il famosissimo caccia P-51 Mustang nella sua configurazione iniziale debuttò operativamente nel 1942 con i colori dell’aviazione inglese, alla quale venne fornito nel quadro degli aiuti americani ai Paesi Alleati in lotta contro l’Asse.
