Gulf war 25th anniversary battle set THE BOX CONTAINS: M1A1 Abrams - AH-1W Supercobra - T-62 - Mi-25 Hind-D On August 1990, the Iraqi troops invaded Kuwait without notice. The reaction was immediate with the United Nations that declared a Resolution placed economic sanctions on Saddam Hussein’s Government. More than 30 States, led by United States, deployed forces to create a Coalition with the purpose to expel Iraqi troops from Kuwait. The war began with an aerial and a naval bombardment on 17 January 1991 and after 5 weeks it was followed by a ground assault on 24th February. After few days, the Coalition forces, led by General Norman Schwarzkopf, thanks to a clear technological superiority and an excellent level of co-ordination between the various armed forces involved, were able to defeat the Iraqi forces A cease-fire was declared 100 hours after the ground campaign started. Staghound MK I late version Italeri Type: Military vehicles Period: Second World War Country: Great Britain Skill: 3 Model Dim.: 15,9 cm PHOTO ETCHED FRET - METAL GUN BARREL The Staghound armoured car was conceived in the US at the start of WW2, based on a British specification which required a wheeled reconnaissance vehicle with a high level of protection, therefore armour plated, well-armed, and highly mobile. The Chevrolet design proposed a large armoured car which, following an extended programme of assessment and testing, went into production in late 1942, too late to be sent to British forces engaged in North Africa. Allied forces were to receive the Staghound in the Spring of 1943 and they were used in the Italian campaign by British and Polish armies In spite of the impressive performance of this vehicle it was not adopted by the US army and so the 3,000 units produced were used solely by British and Commonwealth forces. Il reparto, altamente specializzato, venne identificato con il distintivo numerico “311°”. Per celebrare i sessant’ anni di attività è stata sviluppata, per un Tornado IDS del Reparto, una speciale livrea che ha riscosso un grande interesse ed è stata particolarmente apprezzata durante la manifestazione commemorativa dell’ ottobre 2016. Il 311mo Gruppo Volo costituisce oggi uno dei centri sperimentali aeronautici tecnologicamente più avanzati ed è formato da personale altamente preparato e qualificato. Il Tornado IDS, nato da un programma di collaborazione tra Italia, Gran Bretagna e Germania per lo sviluppo di un aereo d’attacco durante gli anni ’70, è stato prodotto in quasi 1.000 esemplari dimostrando le sue straordinarie capacità operative ed aeronautiche. Modello: 20,1 cm SUPER DECAL PER OGNI AEREO DELLA PATTUGLIA ACROBATICA Il Northrop F-5 nacque negli anni sessanta per soddisfare le necessità di molti Paesi appartenenti alla NATO che richiedevano un caccia multiruolo semplice, economico e di facile manutenzione. All’inizio degli anni settanta venne sviluppata la versione migliorata, denominata F-5E Tiger II, che si caratterizzava per l’adozione dei nuovi propulsori General Electric J85 in grado di fornire una spinta decisamente superiore. Rispetto ai primi F-5, il Tiger II ha una fusoliera più allungata, maggiore autonomia operativa ed un’avionica ottimizzata per adempiere al ruolo primario di caccia da difesa aerea. L’armamento di base è costituito da due cannoni da 20 mm., installati nel muso sotto la cabina, e dalla possibilità di utilizzare svariate combinazioni di missili aria-aria. L’F-5E ha avuto un grande successo commerciale. E’ stato inoltre prodotto su licenza in Corea del Sud, Taiwan e Svizzera, dove nel 1995 fu scelto come velivolo dalla pattuglia acrobatica nazionale “Patrouille Suisse”. Per saperne di più -
