The Cromwell used the same hull and turret as the earlier Cavalier and Centaur designs, but it came with a new Rolls Royce Meteor engine that gave it an impressive top speed of 67 Km/h. Its design formed the basic of the superb Comet tank. Undoubtedly, it was one of the most successful tanks of the "Cruiser Tank" philosophy fielded by Britain in the Second World War. Staghound MK I late version Italeri Type: Military vehicles Period: Second World War Country: Great Britain Skill: 3 Model Dim.: 15,9 cm PHOTO ETCHED FRET - METAL GUN BARREL The Staghound armoured car was conceived in the US at the start of WW2, based on a British specification which required a wheeled reconnaissance vehicle with a high level of protection, therefore armour plated, well-armed, and highly mobile. The Chevrolet design proposed a large armoured car which, following an extended programme of assessment and testing, went into production in late 1942, too late to be sent to British forces engaged in North Africa. Allied forces were to receive the Staghound in the Spring of 1943 and they were used in the Italian campaign by British and Polish armies In spite of the impressive performance of this vehicle it was not adopted by the US army and so the 3,000 units produced were used solely by British and Commonwealth forces. Post war the Staghound was widely issued to the new European armies where some examples were in use into the 1970s. Per saperne di più

CRUSADER III AA MK.I The need to protect the armoured units from the enemy aviation, pushed the English army to develop this self-propeller equipped with a Bofors 40 mm cannon, using the hulls of the Crusader armoured tank, considered out-dated at the end of 1943. The cannon was placed in a tower with armoured plating able to assure the necessary protection to the gunners. The Crusader AA was distributed to the air detachments for the protection of the control units at the end of 1943. Some detachments were used during the French invasion following the landing in Normandy, but due to the air superiority of the allies, the German air threats proved inexistent, therefore the use of this self-propeller anti-aircraft was very limited if not null.
