The two weapons included in the set are the PIAT and Lee-Enfield No.4 Mk.I rifle. The PIAT (standing for Projector, Infantry, Anti-Tank) was a handheld antitank weapon. Based on the spigot mortar system, it didn’t require a propellant to fire rounds. An advantage was the absence of muzzle smoke upon launch, but this was offset by difficulty in cocking the weapon and a lack of penetrative power. The PIAT’s first operational use was in the invasion of Sicily in 1943, and it remained in British and Commonwealth use until the early 1950s. It was 99cm long, weighed 15kg, and was operated by a two-man crew. The Lee-Enfield Rifle, No.4 Mk I was officially adopted in 1941 and was mass produced during WWII. This bolt-action rifle fed by a ten-round magazine fired standard .303 service cartridges. The PIAT, reproduced in plastic kit form by Dragon, is an accurate replica. The plastic parts are separated as on the original weapon, and they fit together precisely. To make the weapon look more realistic, the shoulder pad and jacket are made of cloth. The PIAT is supplied with an ammo case containing three rounds ready for firing. Similarly, the Lee-Enfield No.4 Mk I rifle is well engineered in plastic. Both weapons also come with authentic-looking slings. These British weapons are a welcome release from Dragon, and will look the part alongside similar German and American weapons that have already been released. Per saperne di più

One method of improving this situation was to develop the 2cm FlaK 38, which had a rate of fire of 220 rpm. However, this was still insufficient, and so Rheinmetall combined four 20mm cannons onto a single mount. The resulting weapon, known as the Flakvierling 38, then produced a practical rate of fire of 800 rpm. Produced from 1940 onwards by Mauser, the 1509kg weapon was usually operated by a crew of eight men. Of course, the 2cm Flakvierling 38 could be employed against ground targets as effectively as against low-flying aircraft too. Dragon has already created a 1/6 scale kit of the 2cm FlaK 38, and this single-barreled antiaircraft cannon was heartily welcomed by big-scale model fans. Now Dragon has produced in the same scale a new kit of the four-barreled Flakvierling 38, a subject which will be no less popular. The armored gun shield is made in a true-to-scale thickness, and the triangular gun platform is fully detailed. The 2cm cannons can be elevated or traversed according to the modeler’s wishes, and of course appropriate figures can be added to form a diorama. This four-barreled German cannon is ready to take on any enemy aircraft foolhardy enough to venture anywhere near it! Per saperne di più

It formed the backbone of innumerable American, British and Commonwealth armored formations. The popular Sherman was thus the logical choice when Dragon’s design team sought a subject for their next 1/6 scale plastic kit project. The specific Sherman variant selected is an M4A3 fitted with a 105mm gun. This type was a welded-hull tank powered by a 500hp Ford GAA V8 gasoline engine, and it mounted a 105mm gun suitable for the close-support role. The M4A3 was the preferred variant for the US Army, meaning it was widely used in WWII. This Sherman is a big release for Dragon in more ways than one. It's big on accurate details, and although some moldings are large, there is no deformation of parts. Modelers will find this satisfying kit fits together precisely. The road wheels rotate, and the tracks with individual links are well-designed and well-engineered so as to be both durable and realistic. For greater interest, the tracks come with new duckbills that were used to improve traction on soft ground. Owners can traverse the turret and elevate and depress the gun towards any target they select. The 105mm gun barrel is a newly tooled item. With this Sherman M4A3 105mm, the Allies have gained armored superiority in terms of 1/6 scale kits!
