A small number of this unarmored boat-like vehicle was built and they served on the Eastern Front. However, less well known is the vehicle designed as its successor – the Panzerfahre (abbreviated to "PzF"). The main difference with this vehicle was that it was armored, plus it was conveniently based on the chassis of a Panzer IV Ausf.F tank. Development of the Panzerfahre began in early 1941, and by mid-1942 Magirus had delivered two prototypes. The lightly armored, fully tracked vehicle had a boat-like bow and a propeller at the stern. The vehicle's main function was combat supply on land and in water. It could tow an amphibious trailer, or alternatively it could work in tandem with another Panzerfahre as a floating ferry platform capable of carrying a 24-ton load. However, as heavier tanks appeared on the scene, the Panzerfahre never went into production because of its inadequate payload. Dragon released a 1/35 scale kit of this fascinating vehicle a while back, and now it is being released in the smaller 1/72 scale. It depicts the first Panzerfahre prototype, and it makes clever use of parts from Dragon's Panzer IV models – for example, wheels, suspension and tracks. Meanwhile, all other parts are brand new in line with the unique nature of this vehicle. Details such as hull rivets are delicately rendered, while slide molds are widely used. Modelers will find this kit assembles easily. The finished item is a stunning vehicle, and the scale allows space for modelers to put it in a suitable diorama showing a river or riverbank. These newly tooled figures are quite simply the best ever to be released on the market. They feature well-engineered part separation, and they fit together with consummate ease. Figure modelers have been waiting years, some even for decades, for figures of this degree of detail and sophistication! Likewise, their weapons and personal equipment are astoundingly accurate and well detailed. Poses are natural and anatomically correct. There are no concerns over undercut detail being missed as always happens with 1/72 soft-plastic figures. And thanks to Dragon’s tooling technology, there are no issues about unsightly flash. Neither do modelers need to fret about what glue to use or whether the paint will flake, for these figures are made with Dragon’s hard-plastic formula. Gulf war 25th anniversary battle set THE BOX CONTAINS: M1A1 Abrams - AH-1W Supercobra - T-62 - Mi-25 Hind-D On August 1990, the Iraqi troops invaded Kuwait without notice. The reaction was immediate with the United Nations that declared a Resolution placed economic sanctions on Saddam Hussein’s Government. More than 30 States, led by United States, deployed forces to create a Coalition with the purpose to expel Iraqi troops from Kuwait. The war began with an aerial and a naval bombardment on 17 January 1991 and after 5 weeks it was followed by a ground assault on 24th February. After few days, the Coalition forces, led by General Norman Schwarzkopf, thanks to a clear technological superiority and an excellent level of co-ordination between the various armed forces involved, were able to defeat the Iraqi forces A cease-fire was declared 100 hours after the ground campaign started.
