Among the vanguard is a Late-Production Tiger I and an accompanying set of crewmen. The German Tiger I is one of the most recognizable tanks of WWII. With its thick armor and potent 8.8cm gun, it terrorized enemy soldiers and tankers. Dragon has produced a 1/72 scale Late-Production variant of this formidable AFV, and what’s special about the plastic model is the finely textured Zimmerit coating. The pre-molded Zimmerit is produced to an astounding level of craftsmanship, and it fortunately saves modelers the burden of having to apply the coating themselves. The Tiger I includes sharply detailed components, and it will be warmly welcomed as it sets a new benchmark for quality in this scale. As a special bonus, the kit includes a set of ‘tank ace’ figures. These figures have been downsized from a well-known 1/35 scale figure set, but they’re still remarkably detailed. The five figures are brand new toolings, and the crewmen can be adapted to many different dioramas, theaters or time periods, as selected by modelers. The figures may be grouped together on a Tiger as indicated in the box-top art, or they can be mix and matched with any other German tank type. It formed the backbone of innumerable American, British and Commonwealth armored formations. The popular Sherman was thus the logical choice when Dragon’s design team sought a subject for their next 1/6 scale plastic kit project. The specific Sherman variant selected is an M4A3 fitted with a 105mm gun. This type was a welded-hull tank powered by a 500hp Ford GAA V8 gasoline engine, and it mounted a 105mm gun suitable for the close-support role. The M4A3 was the preferred variant for the US Army, meaning it was widely used in WWII. This Sherman is a big release for Dragon in more ways than one. It's big on accurate details, and although some moldings are large, there is no deformation of parts. Modelers will find this satisfying kit fits together precisely. The road wheels rotate, and the tracks with individual links are well-designed and well-engineered so as to be both durable and realistic. For greater interest, the tracks come with new duckbills that were used to improve traction on soft ground. Owners can traverse the turret and elevate and depress the gun towards any target they select. The 105mm gun barrel is a newly tooled item. With this Sherman M4A3 105mm, the Allies have gained armored superiority in terms of 1/6 scale kits!

Dragon’s kit of the Sexton II, while it bears a striking similarity to the M7 Priest, is most definitely a brand new kit. It features a brand new fighting compartment, new armor plates, a new engine deck and an all-new interior. Obviously, the design team went right back to basics to create this kit. The main armament makes use of the 25-pdr Field Gun kit that Dragon introduced before, although even this had to be modified to allow for the special mount that allowed its installation. The muzzle brake is made from scratch too. Furthermore, the chassis is starkly different to that used on the Priest. Meanwhile, the bogies and road wheels stem from the high-quality Sherman kits that Dragon is renowned for. Indeed, this new Dragon Sexton II is an answer to many a modeler’s prayers! The figures depict various useful poses that will find application in all sorts of vignettes and dioramas. The soldiers wield weapons suitable for their unit and time period, including an MP40 submachine gun, a Kar98k rifle, a signal flare pistol and a Mauser C96 pistol. Two of the soldiers are wearing the special camouflage-pattern smocks that were so popular amongst German units, and these are incredibly well portrayed in plastic.
