Its task was to shuttle backand forth between the big ships and the beaches, carrying up to thirty men,light vehicles and anything else that was needed. Generally armed with tworear-mounted machine guns, it was powered by a 250 HP Hall Scott petrolengine or a 225 HP Gray diesel engine. After the end of the Second WorldWar the LCVP stayed in service, occupying a number of roles. It saw actionin Korea and Indochina and has also been adapted for civilian use all overthe world. In 1940, after World War II had broken out, the US general staff ordered various factories to design a light multi-purpose vehicle with all-wheel drive. The American Bantam Company, Willys Overland, and Ford Motor Co. competed with each other.Willys prototype was chosen, which, after an initial run of 1500 vehicles, went into mass production at the beginning of 1941 and reached a total output of 640.000 units out of which 277.000 pieces were produced by Ford under a licensing agreement. Box contains model of british armoured car. AEC Armoured Car is a series of heavy armoured cars built by the Associated Equipment Company (AEC) during the Second World War. The first example was demonstrated in early 1941, and an order was placed in June of that year. The first version carried a Valentine Mk II turret with 2 pounder gun. Vehicles of later variant designs carried heavier armament. Mk II version has heavier turret with a 6 pounder gun, redesigned front hull, 158 hp diesel engine. The weight of Mk II is 12.0 t. Mk II and Mk III armored cars were used on continental Europe. Production of all the AEC armoured car marks ceased after 629 had been produced. The Mk II / Mk III took part in the fighting in Europe with British and British Indian Army units. In 1944 a batch of AEC armoured cars was send into Yugoslavia for use by partisans, transferred cars were used more than 10 years. After WWII, some AECs were in use by some countries up to the 1970s. The small half-track D7, designed during the mid-thirties, was produced for the German army until 1944. Several thousand units were built to tow light artillery pieces and rocket launchers. The vehicle itself carries an anti-aircraft gun. Very mobile, the vehicle had a cargo capicity of 1,5 tons. It was used extensively in all theaters. The Sd.
