  5. WWII IJN Type2 (Ka-Mi) Amphibious Tank w/Floating Pontoons Late Production
    52,00 €

This 1/35 scale kit is obviously based on the company’s earlier release, but the bonus this time around is the floating pontoons. The front pontoon is composed of two halves (Late Production) that are brand new toolings. Other parts such as the conning tower, rudder and hydroscope suitable for its amphibious role are also fully detailed. There’s widespread use of slide molds to enable crisp detail. The one-piece upper-hull and lower-hull components, for example, are both slide molded. It also features highly detailed and easy-to-assemble DS tracks. This creates many possibilities for dioramas and modelers. This Type 2 with pontoons is thus a unique item from the Pacific theater of war, making this kit invaluable for model-makers. Dragon’s latest 1/35 figure set features Allied soldiers that fought in this famous Battle for Monte Cassino. In fact, it is a truly multinational release, for the set can be adapted to suit New Zealanders, Poles, Indians or Gurkhas. This cosmopolitan kit is unprecedented in Dragon figure sets, for it features three head options for each of the four plastic figures. The remarkably sculpted head options include Caucasians, Sikhs and Gurkhas that allow figures from the four aforementioned nations to be represented according to the modeler’s wishes. Examples of the four nationalities are portrayed on the box top. Uniform details and personal gear are the same since these soldiers had such items in common. The figures are shown in action poses as they advance through the rubble of ruined Monte Cassino in a brave assault, with figure details sharply defined and molded. Commonwealth subjects are often overlooked by kit manufacturers, but Dragon here provides a valuable addition of subjects participating in the Italian campaign. Per saperne di più

The latest item is a Type 4 “Ke-Nu” light tank. It isn’t as well known as the Type 95 “Ha-Go” or Type 97 “Chi-Ha”, although in actual fact it was a hybrid formed from these two tank designs. When operations in Manchuria and Russia revealed that the performance of the low-velocity 57mm anti-tank gun of the Type 97 was inadequate, it was replaced with a 45mm gun to create the Shinhoto Type 97. Some of the original and now obsolete turrets mounting the 57mm gun were then retrofitted onto the Type 95 Ha-Go. The resulting hybrid was known as the Type 4 Ke-Nu, and just 100 vehicles were created in 1944. As such, the Type 4 came too late to have any significant impact on the war, and most vehicles were retained to protect the Japanese homeland from the expected Allied invasion. Dragon has previously released both the Japanese Type 95 and Type 97 tanks as 1/72 scale plastic kits, but here the designers have done much more than simply plonk an old Chi-Ha turret onto an original Ha-Go chassis. In fact, this kit required a completely new upper hull to accommodate the larger turret ring of the Type 97 turret. Details on this model are exquisite. Indeed, although small in stature, this model of a rare Japanese tank is extremely well refined, and it would make a unique contribution to any Japanese WWII model tank collection. Per saperne di più

This 45-tonne medium tank was also converted into a useful armored recovery vehicle known as the Berge-Panther, with nearly 350 examples produced. One particularly unusual vehicle to be created by the unit s.Pz.Abt.653 was a Berge-Panther fitted with a Panzer IV turret. The result was a command tank with a fixed turret, plus a name that was absolutely mind numbing: the Berge-Panther mit aufgesetztem Pz.Kpfw.IV turm als Befehlpanzer. The work was done as a field conversion by only one unit and it served with the aforementioned heavy tank destroyer battalion (originally equipped with Ferdinand and, later, Jagdtiger vehicles) on the Eastern Front in 1944. Dragon has such a new 1/72 scale kit of this special hybrid vehicle. The kit is based on a 1/35 scale kit released some time ago, but the retention of all the original detail means modelers are in for a real treat! As with the original conversion, it’s essentially a donor Panzer IV turret placed on a Berge-Panther chassis. Because the turret is fixed, there’s no rear stowage bin or rear armor. This allows the vehicle’s engine hatches to be shown open. In addition, the track links are made from DS for maximum detail. All the appropriate characteristics of this rather special conversion are present, and it will have 1/72 scale model-makers purring with pleasure. Per saperne di più
