  1. NVA Middle Tank T-34/85M w/NVA Sapper Team

The Vietnam War was a Cold War conflagration that engulfed Indochina. The North Vietnamese Army (NVA) had originally been formed in 1944 to resist French colonialism, but it continued to fight against South Vietnam from 1955 onwards, and later the USA and its allies. After the American withdrawal, the NVA eventually helped conquer South Vietnam in 1975. The NVA fought a largely conventional war, while the famous Vietcong was a guerrilla force. The NVA was equipped with tanks of Russian and Chinese origin, including the T-54, T-55, T-59 and older T-34/85 types. The celebrated Orange Box range from Cyber-Hobby is releasing a combination set that features a T-34/85M tank in 1/35 scale, as well as an accompanying set of four NVA sappers. Such sappers achieved notable successes in the Vietnam War, including a surprise raid on Da Nang Airbase on 1 July 1965, and another on a USMC airfield on Marble Mountain. The NVA T-34/85M has been absent from the Dragon range for many years - indeed for at least a decade - so this is a good opportunity for modelers to get hold of this useful kit. This tank is a must-have for the Vietnam War modeler, and just like the original ubiquitous Russian tank, the plastic kit has stood the test of time very well. It builds easily and quickly into a detailed model. However, Cyber-Hobby has modernized it further with the addition of a set of convenient Magic Tracks. The 1/35 scale members of the NVA Sapper Team appear in action poses, with typical weapons such as AK-47s and even a ladder for an assault on enemy positions. As to be expected, this Orange Box set offers terrific value for money, plus it provides the strong foundation of an inspirational diorama scene of the NVA in full attack during the Vietnam War. The latest item features two complete antitank rifles that were used especially in the early days of WWII. One is the PzB 39 (the abbreviation stands for Panzerbuchse 39, or “armor-hunting rifle”). The PzB 39 was supposed to give infantrymen a lightweight weapon with which to tackle enemy tanks. It was 1.62m long and it weighed 12.6kg. By the time of the invasion of Russian in 1941, a total of 25,298 PzB 39s were in the hands of the infantry. It continued in use until 1944, but by then it was hopelessly outclassed when trying to penetrate thick enemy armor. One variant of the PzB 39 antitank rifle was the Granatbuchse 39 (GrB 39), this being a rifle grenade launcher created from 1942 onwards. The barrel was shortened and a firing cup attachment was threaded on. The GrB 39 could fire the same type of anti-personnel, light antitank and large-diameter antitank grenades used with the standard Kar 98k rifle. Both these weapons are contained in this kit set. They are made according to Dragon’s exacting standards in a precise 1/6 scale. Parts are cleverly broken down into components that assemble easily to produce an accurate replica of the PzB 39 and GrB 39. As a special bonus, this set also comes with a third weapon. The bonus weapon is a 2.7cm Sturmpistole, also referred to as a Walther Leuchtpistole. It was designed to fire small specially designed high-explosive grenades. It was fitted with a padded stock to reduce the shock on the firer’s arm. This light weapon was widely used, particularly on the Eastern Front, for anti-personnel duties. This 1/6 model, like the larger weapons, is highly detailed, and it smoothly goes together to produce a very interesting miniature weapon. Per saperne di più

Appearing in 1/72 scale for the first time from Dragon comes a Kfz.70 Personnel Carrier. This popular truck design served throughout WWII after mass production commenced in 1933. A total of about 7,000 trucks were produced up till 1942. This 6x4 vehicle was powered by an air-cooled 3.308-liter flat-four engine. The horizontal engine gave rise to the truck’s distinctive sharply sloped nose, and also to its nickname “Boxer”. The truck was used for all kinds of purposes, and was commonly employed for towing light artillery such as the 3.7cm Pak 35/36 antitank cannon. Per saperne di più

Known today as the Battle of Bulge, the aim was to split British and American forces in half and drive all the way to Antwerp. Panzer Brigade 150 had a role in this plan. This formation was supposed to create surprise and confusion with clandestine armored vehicles! It included five Panther Ausf.G tanks physically disguised and painted to resemble U.S. Army M10 tank destroyers. Modifications included removal of the Panther cupola and stowage boxes on the rear of the hull. Sheet metal on the hull front, turret and turret overhang was fabricated to disguise the form of the Panther. The transformation was completed with an olive drab paint scheme and Allied stars painted on the turret and glacis. This handful of vehicles was designated Ersatz (i.e. 'substitute') M10. Dragon has produced an amazing 1/72 scale kit of these Ersatz M10 vehicles. This is the first time this unique tank has been created in plastic in this scale. The kit is based on Dragon’s Panther Ausf.G, but the original Panther incorporates a host of new items to suit this Ersatz M10. The turret and the upper hull are brand new, made by slide mold. This long-awaited item is an icon of the Battle of Bulge, and will surely produce an authentic Ardennes diorama together with various items stemming from the Battle of the Bulge Dragon released before.
