Dragon is releasing a 1/35 scale figure set depicting this battle. The four soldiers are French infantrymen, making this Dragon’s first WWII French infantry subject! The set depicts four Frenchmen defending their positions on the outskirts of Sedan. They wear typical uniforms of the day, and carry suitable weapons such as the Fusil mitrailleur modèle 1924 M29 (FM 24/29) light machine gun, plus MAS Modèle 36 rifles. One of the officers is even smoking a pipe, giving this figure a nice touch of character. The poses are well designed, and their molding is sharp and realistic. This first-ever French figure set will undoubtedly inspire modelers’ imaginations and open up a plethora of WWII diorama opportunities. Per saperne di più
  5. Rommel and His Staff, North Africa 1942

The four figures contained in the box are beautifully sculpted in plastic, and the one representing Rommel is an extremely good likeness. He is dressed in his characteristic leather greatcoat, and he’s shown in typical pose as he directs his forces with consummate skill. His three staff officers are based on photographic sources, so they too possess realistic poses. All wear uniform elements characteristic of the period and the desert theater. Although they don’t come with personal weapons, they do carry suitable items such as binoculars, and they wear their medal decorations and hats. The sharp sculpting of these figures takes injection molding to the outer limits of its possibilities. This 1/35 figure set of Rommel and his staff in action lends itself to a dramatic North African diorama scene. Per saperne di più

As the Soviet T-34 tank rumbled along the snow-coated street, its steel track treads crumbled the rubble into powder. Lurking in the shadows, a figure raised his weapon and took careful aim at the monstrous steel hulk bearing down on him. Suddenly he fired, the Ofenrohr (“Stove Pipe”) emitting a large cloud of smoke. A rocket streaked towards the tank and penetrated its sloped armor, the vehicle clanking to a stop as flames and smoke erupted from its interior. The German tank hunter team quickly scuttled away to find a new position. This type of scene was repeated over and over as German defenses were inundated by Soviet and Allied tanks in the latter part of WWII. With a dire shortage of tanks and tank destroyers, one smaller but still effective German weapon was the Panzerschreck (“tank terror”) or Raketenpanzerbu"chse (“rocket tank rifle”, or RPzB). This antitank rocket launcher of 88mm caliber, from which the American bazooka was copied, was employed by infantry. Dragon’s newest figure set offers two Panzerschreck teams, one wearing winter uniforms and the other attired in summer uniforms. Their versatility allows them to be used for either Eastern or Western Front dioramas. As a Gen2 set, the figures are crisply detailed and have anatomically vivid poses. Likewise, their associated gear is sharply molded. Their RPzB 54 weapons with characteristic blast shields are amazingly detailed, the most accurate yet thanks to their Gen2 status. These teams are ready to terrorize some enemy tanks, and simply await a modeler’s touch to bring them to life! Per saperne di più

However, with the advent of more heavily armored and up-gunned enemy tanks, the role of the Panzer III became secondary to that of the Panzer IV and production finally ceased in 1943. One of the later models to be produced was the Panzer III Ausf.L, which featured a longer and more powerful 5cm KwK 39 L/60 main gun. It also boasted thicker armor, with an additional 20mm-thick layer on the turret and hull front. A total of 653 Ausf.L tanks were produced in 1942 by German factories. This new kit specifically offers modelers the chance to build a Late-Production variant of the Panzer III Ausf.L. It includes new toolings, like the long-barreled cannon. It also draws upon the technical and technological pedigree of the larger 1/35 Smart Kit, including full detail and convenient assembly. The upper hull is slide molded as a single piece, as is the accurate lower hull, both elements containing crisp detail. The turret is made from a multi-directional slide mold, and hatches can be shown open or closed depending on the builder’s preference. Where appropriate, photo-etched pieces such as mesh for the deflector grill are also offered. Per saperne di più

Features: - Authentic Panther Ausf.D newly produced - On-vehicle tools reproduced w/clasps - Turret sides molded w/details including ports - Engine deck grills molded w/intricate details - One-piece slide-molded lower hull - Bolts and rivets delicately represented on hull bottom - Finely detailed front headlights - Finely detailed exhaust pipes, jack and rear stowage boxes molded on hull rear - One-piece side armor skirts - Easy-to-assemble idlers and sprocket wheels look authentic - One-piece DS tracks While it’s the impressive Tiger I tank that usually attracts the most attention, it was the Panther that in the long run was a more important tank to Germany during WWII. This approximately 45-tonne medium tank represented a good balance of well-sloped armor protection, lethal firepower and able cross-country mobility, the design being inspired by the highly successful Russian T-34. Beginning in December 1942, a total of 842 Ausf.D examples were manufactured through to September 1943, at which time it was superceded by the improved Ausf.A. Its combat debut occurred during Operation Zitadelle in the titanic Battle of Kursk on the Eastern Front, and the Sd.Kfz.171 Panther fought bravely until the dying days of the Third Reich. Its 7.5cm KwK 42 L/70 cannon took a heavy toll on enemy armored vehicles whenever and wherever they were encountered. The Ausf.D is easily identified by the letterbox hatch opening for the glacis machine gun, pistol ports on the turret sides and a drum cupola. Dragon has a brand new 1/72 scale kit of the Panther Ausf.D Early Production, and modelers are certainly in for a treat with it! The plastic kit is an almost completely new tooling. In fact, the only item carried over from the Ausf.G released recently is the DS tracks! The upper hull is made as a single piece thanks to the clever use of slide molds. The lower hull tub has been formed the same way, thus ensuring a stable and accurate foundation for the rest of the build. All the appropriate characteristics of an Ausf.D variant are present. This Panther is full of delightful details…enough to have 1/72 scale model-makers purring with pleasure. Per saperne di più
