However, as the war progressed, this domination was reversed. The need for antiaircraft weapons became pressing, although the primary light AA gun - the 2cm FlaK 38 (Fliegerabwehrkanone 38) - was inadequate towards the war’s end. The FlaK 38 was an improved version of the FlaK 30, with a much-improved theoretical rate of fire of 420-480 rounds per minute, although in practice it was half of this due to the 20-round box magazines that fed it. Mauser’s 2cm FlaK 38 was adopted gun in March 1940, and more than 17,000 FlaK 30 and FlaK 38 examples were to see widespread service in WWII. The weapon had a muzzle velocity of 900m/s and its maximum effective range was 2,200m. The gun was usually hauled around on a two-wheeled Sd.Ah. 51 trailer. A fine 2cm FlaK 38 antiaircraft gun is the latest arrival in Dragon’s expanding range of 1/6 scale kit sets. The weapon is fully detailed and accurately resembles the original gun. Of course, in this larger scale no detail has been left untouched by the designers. Furthermore, it moves like the real thing, with the weapon able to rotate 360^(o) on its platform, and with the barrel able to elevate to any angle selected by the modeler. As the cannon elevates, the mechanism is carefully engineered so the gun sight moves in tandem. The incluson of a metal gun barrel ensures detail is maximised, and the distinctive holes found on the flash suppressor are present. Although it’s full of complex detail, this plastic kit is simple to assemble. A ready supply of ammunition means this compact weapon is also ready to immediately swing into action against either air or ground targets! Per saperne di più

Now, Dragon has shrunk the same vehicle down to 1/72 scale, but fortunately without sacrificing any details. The SAS, formed in July 1941 by David Stirling, was a commando force designed to operate deep behind enemy lines, something it did very successfully in North Africa, Italy and Northwest Europe. In fact, in Europe the small band of SAS members inflicted 7,733 German casualties, captured 4,784 prisoners, destroyed 700 vehicles and cut 164 railway lines. The new 1/72 scale model kit shows a 1/4-Ton 4x4 Truck of the SAS modified for ETO missions. The vehicle is heavily loaded with extra fuel to allow reconnaissance missions deep behind enemy lines. The SAS vehicle is heavily armed with fast-firing Vickers K machine guns ready for use against ground or aerial targets. A Bren gun mounted near the driver's seat is also included. These weapons are all newly tooled with sophisticated levels of detail. This exciting kit is accurately made, and this SAS vehicles is ready to wreak havoc across enemy-occupied Europe! M3 37mm Anti-Tank Gun. Features - U.S. M3 37mm anti-tank gun presented true-to-scale w/details - Movable gun recoils like the real one - Gun can elevate and rotate at different angle - Gun can be assembled in travel or combat mode - Bottom armored flap of gun shield is movable - Gun cradle in detailed presentation w/hand wheels and shooting scope - Ammunition box mounted on the back of the gun shield like the real one - Gun breech in detailed presentation - Bonus ammunition for M3 37mm gun The USA introduced the M3 gun in 1940 as the country’s first dedicated antitank cannon. Small in size, it could be towed by a Jeep, although major advances in armor protection on the part of German armored fighting vehicles essentially rendered the M3 obsolete in the European theater. Nevertheless, in addition to European, North African and Mediterranean use, the M3 37mm cannon built by Watervliet Arsenal served through to the end of the war in the Pacific. It was usually mounted on a towed gun carriage made by Rock Island Arsenal. As well as the antitank role, it could be used for infantry support and anti-personnel duties. In all a total of 18,702 M3 guns were produced up till 1943. They were used by the US Army and USMC, while some ended up in service as far afield as China. As part of its highly detailed weapon series, Dragon has now produced a 1/6 scale version of the American M3 antitank gun mounted on the regular M4 carriage. In this model kit, the split-trail gun carriage can be displayed in either travel or combat modes. Furthermore, it mimics the original in that the gun can traverse and elevate according to the modeler’s wishes. The vertical-block breech can also be displayed open or closed. The kit is convenient to assemble, but all the intricate detail of the original M3 gun is retained, from the tip of the gun muzzle through to the pneumatic tires. As occurred in reality, the M3 37mm antitank gun can be hitched up to Dragon’s recently released 1/4-Ton 4x4 Truck for towing around the battlefield. Following on from other recently released American 1/6 weapons, this M3 37mm gun offers modelers a larger weapon that will make an impressive centerpiece by itself, or in combination with appropriate figures and other American equipment. Dragon has produced a fantastic 1/35 scale plastic kit of the Flakpanzer IV Ostwind. Owing to the turret being open-topped, all the relevant details on the gun and inside the turret are well represented. The cannon is particularly well defined and the barrel can be posed in any one of several different angles depending on whether the modeler has an aerial or ground target in view. The hull also carries a readymade Zimmerit coating that is masterfully represented. Inside the box, modelers will find many slide-molded plastic components. This latest kit from Dragon allows modelers to create the Flakpanzer IV Ostwind that was used by Flugabwehrzug (antiaircraft platoons) to protect units from marauding aircraft late in the war. The famed SAS unit of the British Army was formed in July 1941 by David Stirling. It was a commando force designed to operate deep behind enemy lines, something it did very successfully. This box-top illustration depicted a famous wartime photograph taken in North Africa that featured Colonel Stirling conversing with his troops. By introducing this seven-figure set #6682, Dragon has now gone the whole way in allowing modelers to recreate the entire photo, with those 1/4-ton 4x4 trucks released earlier. The new 1/35 scale figure set has the commander, Colonel Stirling, as its centerpiece, supported by six other figures sitting in their specially adapted vehicles. The soldiers are all wearing typical SAS garb, a potpourri of styles and apparel. The plastic figures provide a true likeness to the characters in that famous photo. By combining this full set of figures with Dragon’s vehicle sets, modelers can reproduce a piece of history. Or alternatively, the figures are versatile enough to be mixed and matched to produce a completely different scene showing potent SAS teams ranging across the desert sands of North Africa!
