Dragon’s new 1/35 scale model of the Sturm-Infanteriegeschutz 33 completes the ‘33B’ family. A new part is the front plate with its two associated hatches. It shares the same slide-molded fighting compartment superstructure, internal details such as the mount for the sIG33 gun, and large stowage boxes on the rear deck. The metal gun barrel even has realistic rifling so that it looks exactly right. The running gear and DS Tracks have been borrowed from Dragon’s newest Panzer III kits, meaning they’re of the highest quality. Dragon has created a “killer kit” with a 1/35 scale version of this important tank destroyer! It’s based on the company’s Panzer IV Smart Kit family, but it boasts a great many new parts. As a Smart Kit, there’s a one-piece lower hull, convenient Magic Tracks and on-vehicle tools featuring crisp detail. The fighting compartment is made by slide mold so that no multipart assembling is necessary. The schurzen side screens follow the same design of those used on the Panzer IV J Late Production kit (Item No.6575), these having already attracted praise from modelers. Of special interest, too, is the MP44 Vorsatz “P”. This mounted weapon with a curved barrel could be used to protect blind-spots not covered by the mounted MG42 machine gun. This highly detailed 1/72 plastic model kit, accurately portrays the “Operation Desert Storm” variant of the Bradley. The purpose of the Bradley Fighting Vehicle is to enable Infantry soldiers to accomplish their mission of closing in and destroying, or capturing the enemy. The M3A2 ODS fights as a member of the Combined Arms team with the Abrams Tank. It gathered intelligence, performed reconnaissance and conducted attacks from mid-1940 through to April 1943. Yet the elite unit never exceeded 350 men in strength at any one time. To successfully negotiate the desert sands, the LRDG used vehicles such as the Willys Jeep and other stripped-down trucks. Perhaps the vehicle most readily associated with the LRDG is the two-wheel-drive patrol car. It entered service in March 1942 and it became an LRDG mainstay. The sturdy Canadian-manufactured vehicles carried sand channels, jerry cans, a sun compass, sometimes a wireless, improved radiator cooling system and low-pressure desert tires. They were fitted with weapons such as Lewis guns, Vickers medium machine guns and the Vickers K. Dragon has produced an all-new 1/72 scale plastic model of a typical-looking vehicle operating with the famous LRDG. The model utilizes brand new toolings, with the chassis made as a single piece. Upon this chassis is assembled a slide-molded front body that has integral fenders and front grill. This single component accurately depicts the well-known front end of this truck type. The rear body is also made as a one-piece component for easy assembly and accurate alignment. The extra-large10.50 x 20 sand tires are crisply detailed, and the appropriate tread pattern is finely replicated. It formed the backbone of innumerable American, British and Commonwealth armored formations. The popular Sherman was thus the logical choice when Dragon’s design team sought a subject for their next 1/6 scale plastic kit project. The specific Sherman variant selected is an M4A3 fitted with a 105mm gun. This type was a welded-hull tank powered by a 500hp Ford GAA V8 gasoline engine, and it mounted a 105mm gun suitable for the close-support role. The M4A3 was the preferred variant for the US Army, meaning it was widely used in WWII. This Sherman is a big release for Dragon in more ways than one. It's big on accurate details, and although some moldings are large, there is no deformation of parts. Modelers will find this satisfying kit fits together precisely. The road wheels rotate, and the tracks with individual links are well-designed and well-engineered so as to be both durable and realistic. For greater interest, the tracks come with new duckbills that were used to improve traction on soft ground. Owners can traverse the turret and elevate and depress the gun towards any target they select. The 105mm gun barrel is a newly tooled item. With this Sherman M4A3 105mm, the Allies have gained armored superiority in terms of 1/6 scale kits!
