MEDIUM 3 TON TRUCK COAL ENGINE During the final part of the Second World War the lack of fuel created by the destruction of the production structures and the loss of extraction areas forced German military organisers to create a whole range of alternative solutions in order to fuel all of the transportation vehicles required to carry on the war. The various solutions also included the use of vehicles powered by gas produced by wood or carbon combustion: standard 3 ton trucks based on the Kfz. 305 chassis became rather popular among the various means of transport, also used after the end of the war. Staghound MK I late version Italeri Type: Military vehicles Period: Second World War Country: Great Britain Skill: 3 Model Dim.: 15,9 cm PHOTO ETCHED FRET - METAL GUN BARREL The Staghound armoured car was conceived in the US at the start of WW2, based on a British specification which required a wheeled reconnaissance vehicle with a high level of protection, therefore armour plated, well-armed, and highly mobile. The Chevrolet design proposed a large armoured car which, following an extended programme of assessment and testing, went into production in late 1942, too late to be sent to British forces engaged in North Africa. Allied forces were to receive the Staghound in the Spring of 1943 and they were used in the Italian campaign by British and Polish armies In spite of the impressive performance of this vehicle it was not adopted by the US army and so the 3,000 units produced were used solely by British and Commonwealth forces. 14,00 €The new German army made use of the experiences collected in World War I to realize their modern reconstruction based on motorization. In spite of the limitations of the Treaty of Versailles able commanders introduced civilian vehicles into the army, thus creating a motorized mentality. In 1940 already, a battalion consisting of 3 to 4 companies each equipped with 52 motorcycles with sidecars and 4 motorcy-cles (single), was integrated into the motorized infantry and the armored divisions. Moreover, motorcycles were present in nearly all other Wehrmacht units, especially with the reconaissance units and the command, as well as the pioneer and the supply units. Produced in 16.500 units, the BMW R 75 together with the Zijndapp KS 750 formed the nucleus of the motorized units on all theatres of operations, especially in Africa and in Russia. The motorcycle was armored with an MG 34 mounted on the sidecar. On the road, it reached a maximum speed of 92 Km/h. Per saperne di più -
