Dragon has released a new 1/35 scale figure set depicting German soldiers during Operation Marita in 1941. The four newly tooled figures are beautifully sculpted in lifelike poses. To illustrate their practicality for a range of settings, their uniforms show interesting variety such as NCO breeches and a tank commander’s jacket. Even the badges on their jackets are sharply molded. These four German soldiers will fit admirably in a figure or vehicle diorama depicting the Greek campaign, and in fact they’re versatile enough to fit any theater of that period of WWII. 2cm Flak Crew w/Sd. Ah. 51 1/35 2cm Flak Crew with Sd.Ah.51 two-wheeled trailer (4 Figures Set) These four figures are clad in typical Luftwaffe field blouses, trousers, and wearing marching boots. Each of the Flak crewmen is shown in the midst of full combat: one is seated and firing the cannon, two ammo handlers ready to reload the magazines, and a spotter tracking an enemy target with a pair of binoculars. Also, this set includes a detailed Sd.Ah.51, a two-wheeled trailer used to tow the cannon, and bonus ammunition boxes. Dragon recently released a set of four Allied soldiers fighting at Monte Cassino. This enthusiastically received set has now been joined by another 1/35 scale release, this time depicting the German side. The four plastic injected-molded figures are German paratroopers engaged in the vicious hand-to-hand fighting that characterized much of the Battle of Monte Cassino. These soldiers are wearing standard Fallschirmjager equipment and uniform items. Although they arenot Gen2 figures, they are well armed with Gen2 weapons such as the Kar98K and MP-40. Such an array of well-defined weapons will be a boon to modelers. Molded detail is sharp and clean-cut, and the poses are very realistic. In fact, the poses have been carefully designed to fit the type of rugged terrain and rubble found at Monte Cassino. Although these four figures can easily form a vignette on their own, they would also combine smoothly with Dragon`s other Fallschirmjager defenders, namely DRA-6005 Fallschirmjager (Monte Cassino 1944) and DRA-6215 Fallschirmjager 8cm Mortar Team. 18,00 €Dragon’s newest 1/35 scale figure set is a first. It features Italian Paracadutisti, a topic never covered in the series before. The set employs brand new moldings, including all the personal gear and weapons. The poses reflect the dramatic and fierce nature of the Battle of Anzio. Thus, they’re dynamic, with troops throwing grenades, firing rifles and mounting an assault. The four figures wear typical garb for Italian paratroopers (e.g. paratroop smocks) and they carry a range of weapons such as a 9mm Beretta Model 38/42 submachine gun, 6.5mm Breda M30 light machine gun and Carcona carbine. Interestingly, one of the paratroopers has even appropriated a Panzerfaust from a fellow German. The four German figures contained in the set are all distinctly dressed and armed. Their uniforms reflect the wide variety of gear that was worn in this mid-war period. One of them is fully equipped for winter combat as he’s wearing a camouflaged snowsuit, while another has a typical camouflage smock. They also carry a range of weapons that fit this stage of the war, including an MG34 machine gun, MP40 machine pistol and Kar 98k rifle. The poses all possess a convincingly authentic look and they’ll slot into a wide range of dioramas or vignettes with ease. For example, taking a swig from a water bottle or loading an ammo clip into a rifle were commonplace for soldiers, but such actions are rarely offered in 1/35 scale figures.
