Dragon has already produced a 1/35 scale 1-ton Sd.Kfz.10 halftrack in plastic and it was warmly received by modelers. Dragon has now expanded the family with the Sd.Kfz.10/4 by adding the company’s world-famous 2cm FlaK 30 kit. The rear platform is completely new to suit this particular vehicle type. The same is also true of the front-wheel fenders. The kit’s fully detailed, and even hidden internal components like the engine and gearbox are provided. Each figure features different aspects of the “Das Reich” Division’s uniforms and weaponry. One soldier is dressed in winter clothing while others wear uniforms more appropriate to warmer weather. Notably, one figure is a member of a divisional armored unit. Their weapons include ubiquitous MP40 machine pistols, plus an M42 flare pistol and a captured Soviet PPSh-41 submachine gun. The weapons and personal equipment of these soldiers are all made to the highest Gen2 standards. Operation Overlord was the Allied master plan to wrest Europe from the clutches of Germany. More than three million Allied troops were put ashore at Normandy from 6 June 1944 onwards. A slow, grinding battle ensued for the next two months as American, British and Canadian troops established their bridgehead against strong opposition. When the breakout from Normandy finally came, it was spectacular in its speed. By September there were three Allied army groups fighting against German forces, and General Patton was racing his forces across France to the very border of Germany.
