This approximately 45-tonne medium tank represented a good balance of well-sloped armor protection, lethal firepower and able cross-country mobility, the design being inspired by the highly successful Russian T-34. Beginning in December 1942, a total of 842 Ausf.D examples were manufactured through till September 1943, at which time it was superceded by the improved Ausf.A. Its combat debut occurred during Operation Zitadelle in the titanic Battle of Kursk on the Eastern Front. Its 7.5cm KwK.42 L/70 cannon took a heavy toll on enemy armored vehicles whenever they were encountered. The Ausf.D is easily identified by the letterbox hatch opening for the glacis machine gun, pistol ports on the turret sides and a drum cupola. Dragon previously produced a new 1/72 scale kit of an Early-Production version of the Panther Ausf.D, and modelers loved it because of its accurate portrayal of the type. Now modelers are in for another treat because it has just been joined by an Ausf.D Late-Production kit! The upper hull is made as a single piece thanks to the clever use of slide molds. The lower hull tub has been formed the same way, thus ensuring a stable and accurate foundation for the rest of the build. It has newly tooled parts like updated road wheels, a jack rest block on the right side of the hull and a modified cupola with a ring. Thus, all the appropriate characteristics of this Ausf.D variant are present. Convenient DS tracks are provided too. This delectable Panther will have small-scale model-makers purring with pleasure! 3. Panther Type G Steal Wheel Ver.

    - Panther G is accurately presented - Detailed designed rear panel and tool box - Engine deck w/delicate details - One-piece plastic gun barrel w/detailed hollow muzzle - Slide-molded upper hull w/details - Delicate turret w/authentic details - Intricate steel road wheels - One-piece DS track The Panther is a tank that commands a lot of attention from modelers, perhaps due to its sleek and purposeful appearance, or perhaps due to the fact that it was regarded as one of the best tank designs of WWII. The latest 1/72 model kit from Dragon is a Panther Ausf.G variant fitted with steel road wheels. Steel-rimmed “silent bloc” wheels of 800mm diameter, which saved on dwindling supplies of rubber, were introduced in a very limited number of vehicles produced by MAN in September 1944, and again in a batch dating from March-April of 1945 (introduced from chassis no. 121052). Such steel wheels had been successfully used on late-model Tiger I tanks and also on the Tiger II. These steel road wheels were also to be standardized on the updated Panther Ausf.F, a tank that never reached fruition. The new Dragon kit of such a Panther Ausf.G with steel wheels has re-engineered features, the most obvious example of which is the new steel road wheels, which are accurately reproduced in plastic. The inclusion of these wheels gives the Panther a whole new look. The rest of the tank lives up to Dragon’s uncompromising standards of quality and engineering excellence too, with widespread use of slide-mold technology. Indeed, this 1/72 scale Dragon kit is an absolute pleasure to assemble, and it offers model lovers even more options in building the ever-popular Panther G. Per saperne di più
  4. IJA Type 97 [Chi-Ha] Early Production
    15,00 €

The 1/72 scale Type 97 Chi-Ha medium tank (Item No.7397) that Dragon Armor previously released has been a very popular item. That particular model depicted a Late-Production variant, but now Dragon is adding an Early-Production model to the range. The Type 97 was Japan’s most widely produced medium tank of WWII. Boasting a 57mm main gun and two Type 97 machine guns, this tank was intended to serve as an up-scaled version of the Type 95 for infantry support. Armor protection was modest on this vehicle. A total of 2,123 tanks were produced from 1938-43, most of which had the low-velocity 57mm gun. The tank could move at a speed of 38km/h. The new 1/72 scale model uses some components from the previously released kit, but there are a great many new parts included. The entire upper hull, for example, is a completely new tooling. It’s all new to enable the correct depiction of the altered engine deck layout. Other notable alterations include the toolbox, shovel, rear-plate brackets and distinctive flaps on the engine deck. The lower hull also had to be modified due to the changed exhaust location. This Japanese tank kit allows modelers to field a tank that was used in both tropical and temperate regions of Asia, as well as the Pacific island-hopping campaign by the USA and the Allies. The new 1/72 scale item is a British tank – the famous Churchill. The Churchill, referred to officially as the Tank, Infantry, Mk IV (A22), was named after the British prime minister at the time of its design in WWII. The tank was heavily armored and it featured a long chassis with long track runs that enabled it to cross difficult terrain. The first Churchills were hastily churning off Vauxhall production lines in June 1941, within a year of the tank’s design in the aftermath of the humiliating Allied defeat in Europe. Dragon’s model portrays a Churchill Mk IV tank, a variant that featured a cast turret instead of the all-welded turret found on the visually similar Mk III. Its main armament was a QF 6 pounder gun. Weighing in at approximately 40 tonnes, the Churchill had a particularly slow top speed. The Mk IV was the most numerically common model of the Churchill, with 1,622 tanks produced. As the first Churchill kit from Dragon, the tank utilizes brand new moldings. Slide molds allow the upper hull and lower hull to each be made in one piece. This makes construction more straightforward and accurate. The suspension on the Churchill is complicated, but the kit designers have cleverly engineered the suspension system in a way that’s easy to assemble. The cast turret is made in one piece via multi-directional slide molds, and it perfectly captures the five-sided shape of the Mk IV turret. The muzzle of the 6 pounder gun is hollow thanks also to slide molding. The tracks are made of DS, adding to the appeal of a model that’s easy to assemble and one that builds into an authentic-looking Churchill Mk IV! Per saperne di più

This called for more effective antiaircraft systems than Germany hitherto possessed. A new vehicle was planned – the 5.5cm Zwilling Flakpanzer V – though like the Flakpanzer V “Coelian”, it was never put into production. Development of the twin-barrel 5.5cm Zwilling was authorized on 8 May 1944 and it featured a special Krupp armored turret weighing 9.06 tonnes mounted on a Panther Ausf.G chassis. The antiaircraft vehicle would require a four-man crew and carry 104 ammo rounds. A wooden prototype turret was completed by January 1945, although further development of the 5.5cm Zwilling Flakpanzer V was eventually cancelled on 14 February. Per saperne di più
