However, with the advent of more heavily armored and up-gunned enemy tanks, the role of the Panzer III became secondary to that of the Panzer IV and production finally ceased in 1943. One of the later models to be produced was the Panzer III Ausf.L, which featured a longer and more powerful 5cm KwK 39 L/60 main gun. It also boasted thicker armor, with an additional 20mm-thick layer on the turret and hull front. A total of 653 Ausf.L tanks were produced in 1942 by German factories. This new kit specifically offers modelers the chance to build a Late-Production variant of the Panzer III Ausf.L. It includes new toolings, like the long-barreled cannon. It also draws upon the technical and technological pedigree of the larger 1/35 Smart Kit, including full detail and convenient assembly. The upper hull is slide molded as a single piece, as is the accurate lower hull, both elements containing crisp detail. The turret is made from a multi-directional slide mold, and hatches can be shown open or closed depending on the builder’s preference. Where appropriate, photo-etched pieces such as mesh for the deflector grill are also offered. Per saperne di più

One wheeled family of vehicles introduced in 1936 included 4x4 armored cars known as the Leichter Panzerspa"hwagen, which translates as “Light Armoured Reconnaissance Vehicle.” Powered by a Horch engine, these vehicles were based on a Horch 801 heavy car chassis to which an armored body was added. Early in WWII it performed well enough as a reconnaissance vehicle for panzer divisions, although its off-road capability let it down. The base model was the Sd.Kfz.221, but Dragon is introducing a model of the derivative known as the Sd.Kfz.222. The latter vehicle is armed with a 2cm KwK.30 L/55 cannon and MG34 machine gun in an open-top turret. Three men operated the Sd.Kfz.222. Interestingly, as well as being operated by China, a dozen Sd.Kfz.222 armored cars were also sold to China. At the last Tokyo Hobby Show, Dragon announced a whole new series of 1/72 scale kits. The first of these is the famous little Sd.Kfz.222. As a special introductory offer, Dragon is including two complete Sd.Kfz.222 models in the box. The two vehicles are supplied with different markings. These kits make use of Dragon’s highest engineering expertise, meaning the armored car is well designed and easily assembled. The mesh that covers the turret is supplied as a photo-etched part so that it remains true to scale. This little reconnaissance vehicle is the perfect vehicle to lead off Dragon’s newly tooled collection of 1/72 vehicle kits! Per saperne di più
  3. IJA Type 97 [Chi-Ha] Early Production
    15,00 €

The 1/72 scale Type 97 Chi-Ha medium tank (Item No.7397) that Dragon Armor previously released has been a very popular item. That particular model depicted a Late-Production variant, but now Dragon is adding an Early-Production model to the range. The Type 97 was Japan’s most widely produced medium tank of WWII. Boasting a 57mm main gun and two Type 97 machine guns, this tank was intended to serve as an up-scaled version of the Type 95 for infantry support. Armor protection was modest on this vehicle. A total of 2,123 tanks were produced from 1938-43, most of which had the low-velocity 57mm gun. The tank could move at a speed of 38km/h. The new 1/72 scale model uses some components from the previously released kit, but there are a great many new parts included. The entire upper hull, for example, is a completely new tooling. It’s all new to enable the correct depiction of the altered engine deck layout. Other notable alterations include the toolbox, shovel, rear-plate brackets and distinctive flaps on the engine deck. The lower hull also had to be modified due to the changed exhaust location. This Japanese tank kit allows modelers to field a tank that was used in both tropical and temperate regions of Asia, as well as the Pacific island-hopping campaign by the USA and the Allies. Features: - Newly tooled fuel tank produced - Realistic Churchill Mk.III - Cupola and hatches on turret can be assembled open/closed - Slide-molded turret for Churchill Mk.III represented by separate parts - Inlet louve molded w/detailed pattern - Intricate on-vehicle tools molded on - Side fenders w/pattern detail on both surfaces - One-piece slide-molded lower hull - Bolts and rivets delicately represented on hull bottom - One-piece gun barrel w/detailed hollow muzzle brake - Idler and sprocket wheel are authentic and easy to assemble - One-piece bogies produced for easy assembly - One-piece DS track The Churchill infantry tank is a most distinctive design with its extremely long chassis and wraparound tracks. Named after the British Minister of Defence of the time, the Churchill tank was very well armored. It was produced in a series of versions that offered heavier armor and more powerful armament as the war progressed. The Mk.III, weighing in at 39,626kg, arrived on the scene in March 1942. It featured a 6-pounder gun in the all-welded turret, and the hull-mounted howitzer fitted in previous variants was deleted. Its baptism of fire was in the Second Battle of El Alamein in October 1942, in which six Mk.III tanks were involved. The Mk.III was also famously involved in the failed landing at Dieppe in northern France. Dragon previously issued a 1/72 scale kit of the Churchill Mk.IV, but is now following it up with a Mk.III version. To create this earlier mark, many new components such as a turret and auxiliary fuel tank have been newly tooled. The engine details are quite different too. The Churchill Mk.III is beautifully detailed, and it assembles quickly and easily into an accurate model thanks to time-saving elements like one-piece DS tracks and single-piece bogies. For modelers wishing to strengthen their British tank brigades, this is a must-have item, and it perfectly complements Dragon’s Sherman Mk.III, Sherman Firefly and Churchill Mk.IV kits already available. Features: - Newly tooled IJA Type 95 delicately produced - Suspension sustem newly tooled - Upper hull w/molded rivet detail - Intricate air intake grill included - Realistic 37mm Type 94 L36.7 tank gun and Type 91 6.5mm machine guns included - Cupola can be assembled open/closed - Sprocket wheels w/breathtaking detail - Intricate idler wheels accurately produced - Rear-hull details accurately produced - Hollow exhaust pipe w/photo-etched cover - Slide-molded lower hull is highly detailed - On-vehicle tools sharply molded - Detailed stowage box included Dragon extends its scintillating line of Japanese subjects in the Armor Pro 1/72 scale plastic kit collection. The latest item is a Type 95 Ha-Go light tank. Introduced into service in 1936, this armored vehicle weighing just 7.4 tonnes was designed primarily as an infantry support weapon. Indeed, it was the most common light tank used by the Imperial Japanese Army (IJA), with about 2,300 units manufactured by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. It had a crew of three, and the main armament was a Type 94 37mm gun. Its maximum speed was 45km/h. The Type 95 Ha-Go participated in the Soviet-Japanese Border Wars that simmered along the Manchurian border in the 1930s. For example, a total of 35 Type 95 tanks from the 4th Tank Regiment of the 1st Tank Corps participated in the Battle of Khalkhin Gol in July 1939. This 1/72 scale model allows modelers to represent a Ha-Go tank involved in this combat against Russia in northern China in 1939. The model makes widespread use of slide molds for elements such as the lower hull. The kit fits together with precision, and fine details such as a hollowed-out exhaust pipe are included. Furthermore, the kit offers a photo-etched exhaust muffler cover. This Type 95 Tank possesses some recognizable characteristics, including retooled running gear that features an additional road wheel between the main road wheels. The tiny track links are also accurately replicated in miniature. Although small, this interesting Japanese tank model builds up into an extremely well-detailed replica of a vehicle that fought against Russia in 1939. Per saperne di più

IJA Type 4 [Ke-Nu] Light Tank Features: - Newly tooled and highly detailed Type 4 - Realistic 57mm Type 4 cannon and 7.7mm machine gun included - Cupola hatches can be assembled open/closed - Upper hull w/rivet detail molded on - Intricate ventilation grills - Sharply molded on-vehicle tools - Detailed stowage box included - Hollow exhaust pipe w/photo-etched exhaust cover - Detail on hull rear accurately produced - Fully detailed slide-molded lower hull - Suspension system realistically represented - Sprocket wheels w/breathtaking details - Intricate idler wheels accurately produced - One-piece DS tracks reproduced Dragon continues to extend its scintillating line of Japanese subjects in its 1/72 scale model kit collection. The latest item is a Type 4 “Ke-Nu” light tank. It isn’t as well known as the Type 95 “Ha-Go” or Type 97 “Chi-Ha”, although in actual fact it was a hybrid formed from these two tank designs. When operations in Manchuria and Russia revealed that the performance of the low-velocity 57mm anti-tank gun of the Type 97 was inadequate, it was replaced with a 45mm gun to create the Shinhoto Type 97. Some of the original and now obsolete turrets mounting the 57mm gun were then retrofitted onto the Type 95 Ha-Go. The resulting hybrid was known as the Type 4 Ke-Nu, and just 100 vehicles were created in 1944. As such, the Type 4 came too late to have any significant impact on the war, and most vehicles were retained to protect the Japanese homeland from the expected Allied invasion. Dragon has previously released both the Japanese Type 95 and Type 97 tanks as 1/72 scale plastic kits, but here the designers have done much more than simply plonk an old Chi-Ha turret onto an original Ha-Go chassis. In fact, this kit required a completely new upper hull to accommodate the larger turret ring of the Type 97 turret. Details on this model are exquisite. Indeed, although small in stature, this model of a rare Japanese tank is extremely well refined, and it would make a unique contribution to any Japanese WWII model tank collection. Per saperne di più

The new 1/72 scale item is a British tank – the famous Churchill. The Churchill, referred to officially as the Tank, Infantry, Mk IV (A22), was named after the British prime minister at the time of its design in WWII. The tank was heavily armored and it featured a long chassis with long track runs that enabled it to cross difficult terrain. The first Churchills were hastily churning off Vauxhall production lines in June 1941, within a year of the tank’s design in the aftermath of the humiliating Allied defeat in Europe. Dragon’s model portrays a Churchill Mk IV tank, a variant that featured a cast turret instead of the all-welded turret found on the visually similar Mk III. Its main armament was a QF 6 pounder gun. Weighing in at approximately 40 tonnes, the Churchill had a particularly slow top speed. The Mk IV was the most numerically common model of the Churchill, with 1,622 tanks produced. As the first Churchill kit from Dragon, the tank utilizes brand new moldings. Slide molds allow the upper hull and lower hull to each be made in one piece. This makes construction more straightforward and accurate. The suspension on the Churchill is complicated, but the kit designers have cleverly engineered the suspension system in a way that’s easy to assemble. The cast turret is made in one piece via multi-directional slide molds, and it perfectly captures the five-sided shape of the Mk IV turret. The muzzle of the 6 pounder gun is hollow thanks also to slide molding. The tracks are made of DS, adding to the appeal of a model that’s easy to assemble and one that builds into an authentic-looking Churchill Mk IV! Per saperne di più

  10. IJN Type 2 (Ka-Mi) Amphibious Tank

Exquisite Type 2 newly produced One-piece upper hull made from 3-directional slide mold Ventilation grill produced in maximum details 3-directional slide-molded one-piece lower hull Hatch on turret can be assembled open/closed True-to-scale ultra-thin propellers Injection molded float attachments w/crisp details Intricate idler wheels and return rollers accurately produced Sprocket wheels w/breathtaking detail Suspension system offers easy assembly One-piece DS track reproduced Dragon earlier produced a simply stunning 1/35 scale Smart Kit of the Japanese Type 2 “Ka-Mi” amphibious tank, and now it has been used as a platform to create a 1/72 plastic kit. The Type 2 was the first amphibious tank used by the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN). It was designed for Japanese landing forces performing amphibious invasions of Pacific islands that didn’t have regular port facilities. Production commenced in 1942 and a total of 184 Type 2 amphibious tanks were made, although the design was too late to participate in Japan’s island-hopping campaign. When used in water, large pontoons were attached to the glacis plate and rear deck to give it a top speed of 10km/h. These pontoons could be shed as soon as it reached land. The turret featured a 3.7cm Type 1 gun and coaxial Type 97 machine gun. Dragon’s 1/72 scale kit uses 100% new toolings. Fully utilizing Dragon’s technological expertise, the result is another masterpiece of accurate kit engineering. The upper hull and lower hull components are both made as single pieces thanks to the employment of slide molds. The kit is closely based on measurements taken from a surviving tank on Peleliu (present-day Palau). This ensures that the kit of the Type 2 tank without its flotation pontoons is accurately dimensioned. The Ka-Mi also includes DS tracks for easy assembly of the complicated track links. This is a swimmingly good kit, a fitting counterpart to its larger 1/35 brother! Per saperne di più
