This inspired Germany’s own version, the Moskito. Notably, the Moskito used wooden components for its airframe just like its British namesake. It was named after Kurt Tank, the chief designer of the Fw190A, and was known as the Ta154. It was produced by Focke-Wulf late in World War II. To commemorate the impact of the world’s largest conflict up till that time, Dragon is releasing a collection of 1/48 scale aircraft kits featuring aircraft from that conflagration. WWI saw the widespread debut of aircraft in the combat role, giving rise to mass production, famous aces and the rapid development of fighter technology and of air warfare doctrine. WWII Luftwaffe Messerschmitt Bf 109E-4/B Barcode: 0 89195 83225 2 Case Pack: 20 pieces per master carton Box Size: 9.6" x 15" x 3.5" The Messerschmitt Bf109 formed the backbone of the Luftwaffe for the duration of WWII. In fact, the Bf109 holds the distinction of being the most widely produced fighter in history. Nearly 34,000 were produced up till April 1945! A range of wartime variants were developed, with the E (“Emil”) series being the first major redesign of this highly successful platform that wrought havoc on Allied and Russian opponents. Of the 561 E-4 aircraft built, 211 were of the E-4/B “Jabo” type. It was first used against shipping in the English Channel in July 1940, and it could carry a single 250kg bomb or four 50kg bombs. Based on previous Bf109s, this new Bf109E-4/B has resulted in precise detail and easy assembly for modelers of all skill levels. Every detail is accurately presented in plastic, and some parts such as the pilot’s seatbelt are even included as photo-etched metal items for superior realism. DS is also used for the landing-gear compartment to provide the necessary level of detail. The redesigned squared-off cockpit canopy is produced especially for this kit.
