SUPER DECALS SHEET The multi-role combat aircraft Tornado was jointly developed and built by a multinational collaboration of Italian, German and British companies. After forty years from the set up of the development, the Tornado is, still today, an aircraft with a significant operational capability. The Tornado is a twin-engine, variable sweep wing able to perform well as a low-level supersonic strike aircraft and able to “follow” the ground profile. The most successful commercial version was the ground attack variant IDS (Interdictor and strike). With over 20,000 units produced from 1941, together with the Messerschmitt Bf 109, it was the Luftwaffe’s most famous bomber. The Focke-Wulf Fw 190 A-8 was equipped with a BMW 801 D-2 two star radial engine, with 14 1,700 Hp cylinders, which allowed it to reach a maximum speed of 653 Km/h. It was heavily armed with 2 MG 131 machine guns and 4 MG 151 20 mm cannons. Production of the A-8 version began in the first months of 1944, characterised with an injection system able to increase engine power, for brief periods, to over 1,900 Hp. From 1944 until May 1945 in all the Focke-Wulf factories, more than 6,500 190 A-8 models were constructed, to face the ever more frequent allied air raids. Decals for 2 versions. Republic F - 84F Thunderstreak The first Republic F-84F Thunderstreaks began service in the United States Air Force around the middle of the 1950’s. Differently from the previous F-84 Thunderjet, it was characterised with a swept-wing and a powerful Wright J-65 engine which brought it to a maximum speed of over 1,100 Km/h, beyond the sound barrier. The F84F equipped the bomber formations of the newly founded NATO air forces during the first phase of the Cold War. It was used, among others, by Italy, France, West Germany, the Netherlands, Greece and Turkey. The F-84F Thunderstreak was armed with 6 12.7 mm machine guns and had a transport capacity, at the hooking points below the wings, of over 2,700 kg of combat payload or else supplementary fuel tanks to extend its range of action. In the Italian Military Air Force it was also used by the aerobatic team called the “Red Devils”, by the 6th brigade and by the “Thundering Jets” of the 5th air brigade. Per saperne di più -
