D-DAY SERIES - NORMANDY 1944/2014 The Hawker Typhoon was the most famous British single-seat fighter-bomber used by the Royal Air Force during the Second World War. Its robust structure and the outstanding aerodynamic performance at low altitude made it ideal to perform ground attack and close support duties. The main armament, in order to enhance the role of fighter-bomber, was mainly formed by four 20 mm Hispano cannons installed in the wings. Thanks to the reliable Napier Sabre 24 pistons engine (able to provide more than 2,200 hp), the Typhoon is able to reach a top speed of 660 Km / h and to carry 900 kg of rockets and bombs. It was widely used during the 1944 for the preliminary operations before the “D-Day”, through raids against communication and transport lines, and after the Allied Normandy landing to support the British ground forces and to attack enemy targets. 15,00 €The North American B-25 Mitchell was probably one of the best medium bombers of World War II. The first flight of the twin-engine North American plane was done in 1939. Powered by two 1750 HP Wright R-2600 Cyclone engines, the B-25 was characterized by an extraordinary operational flexibility. It took its nickname in honor of General Billy Mitchell considered, in effect, the father and the founder of United States Air Force. From the first versions, used for the main task of medium bomber in level flight, were progressively develop and implement further variations. In particular, following the specific need for a ground attack and close support aircraft, was made the B-25G. It was equipped with a closed nose, instead of the transparent one, with two .50 machine-guns and an heavy 75mm cannon inside which made it a real "piece of flying artillery”. Per saperne di più

The Hawker Hurricane has been the most widely used fighter by the British Royal Air Force at the beginning of World War II. The Hurricane was powered by a Rolls-Royce Merlin 12-cylinders, liquid-cooled, with more than 1,000 HP that could lead to a speed above 500 km/h. The eight 7.7 mm Browning machine guns, which equipped it , guaranteed a good firepower. Although it was slower and more antiquated, for aerodynamic design, then the famous "colleague" with whom it shared the operational engagement during the Battle of Britain, however, was more robust, cheaper and easier to maintain and repair. He has contributed significantly to the victory of the RAF during the Battle of Britain, but during the war, it has gradually given the role of front-line fighter to the more modern Spitfire. 39,00 €This large twin-engine plane was built for the U.S. Air Force for troop support and anti-tank missions. Despite its extensive amour and armament the A-10 is highly maneuverable which is particularly important to overcome enemy anti-aircraft fire. The Thunderbolt (also called “Warthog”) was practically built around its remarkable 30 mm gun GAU-8, which can perforate tank amour with its special high performance ammunition. The aircraft was widely used during the Gulf War, where it successfully destroyed a few hundred Iraqis vehicles with minimum losses despite the heavy enemy defense of conventional and missile fire power. A.10 Around the mid-2000s, the A-10, updated to "C" standard, has been improved to be in line with the changed and evolved operational needs. The A-10C is, in fact, the most modern version of the robust and reliable strike aircraft able to use the most advanced weapon systems and target acquisition pods. Per saperne di più
