  1. Ju 87 D-5 Stuka
    28,00 €

The JU-87 dive bomber is certainly one of the most famous airplanes of World War II. This characteristic “inverted gullwing” aircraft became famous at the early stages of the war, when Germany had virtual air superiority. Later on the planes’s limits became obvious. The Stukas were then used as troop support aircraft on the Eastern front, where its robust fuselage proved to be quite adequate. During the final war period the plane was used as a night bomber where the flying qualities of its crews were important in a situation of technical and numeral inferiority. Furthermore the “Ariete”, as the RE 2002 was called, had a good storage capacity, able to carry bombs as heavy as 500 kg. The squadrons equipped with this aircraft saw a great deal of action against the Allied fleet invading Sicily in 1943. After the Italian surrender in September of that same year, the surviving aircrafts were used by the Luftwaffe, which produced its own version with about 200 copies. Per saperne di più

Republic F - 84F Thunderstreak The first Republic F-84F Thunderstreaks began service in the United States Air Force around the middle of the 1950’s. Differently from the previous F-84 Thunderjet, it was characterised with a swept-wing and a powerful Wright J-65 engine which brought it to a maximum speed of over 1,100 Km/h, beyond the sound barrier. The F84F equipped the bomber formations of the newly founded NATO air forces during the first phase of the Cold War. It was used, among others, by Italy, France, West Germany, the Netherlands, Greece and Turkey. The F-84F Thunderstreak was armed with 6 12.7 mm machine guns and had a transport capacity, at the hooking points below the wings, of over 2,700 kg of combat payload or else supplementary fuel tanks to extend its range of action. In the Italian Military Air Force it was also used by the aerobatic team called the “Red Devils”, by the 6th brigade and by the “Thundering Jets” of the 5th air brigade. Per saperne di più

The Hawker Hurricane has been the most widely used fighter by the British Royal Air Force at the beginning of World War II. The Hurricane was powered by a Rolls-Royce Merlin 12-cylinders, liquid-cooled, with more than 1,000 HP that could lead to a speed above 500 km/h. The eight 7.7 mm Browning machine guns, which equipped it , guaranteed a good firepower. Although it was slower and more antiquated, for aerodynamic design, then the famous "colleague" with whom it shared the operational engagement during the Battle of Britain, however, was more robust, cheaper and easier to maintain and repair. He has contributed significantly to the victory of the RAF during the Battle of Britain, but during the war, it has gradually given the role of front-line fighter to the more modern Spitfire. D-DAY SERIES - NORMANDY 1944/2014 The Hawker Typhoon was the most famous British single-seat fighter-bomber used by the Royal Air Force during the Second World War. Its robust structure and the outstanding aerodynamic performance at low altitude made it ideal to perform ground attack and close support duties. The main armament, in order to enhance the role of fighter-bomber, was mainly formed by four 20 mm Hispano cannons installed in the wings. Thanks to the reliable Napier Sabre 24 pistons engine (able to provide more than 2,200 hp), the Typhoon is able to reach a top speed of 660 Km / h and to carry 900 kg of rockets and bombs. It was widely used during the 1944 for the preliminary operations before the “D-Day”, through raids against communication and transport lines, and after the Allied Normandy landing to support the British ground forces and to attack enemy targets. The Douglas Skyraider was manufactured immediately after War World II. Despite its traditional piston motor, in an age when jets were spreading, the Skyraider had an extraordinary long career. It made its first flight in 1945 and it was retired from service only in 1975. It has participated to several conflicts, demonstrating its value in Korea and in Vietnam. Characterised by low speed manoeuvrability, it was able to transport impressive war cargos of over 3,500Kg. Perfect for ground attack missions, it was provided with robust armour to minimise fire damages from the enemy. France used more than 100 Skyraiders, many of which took part to the Algerian war, replacing the old T-6 Texan as insurgency aircraft and close support. Before going definitely out of service, several Skyraiders were sold to Air Forces of the former French Colonies, such as Chad and Gabon. Per saperne di più
  10. A-10C Blacksnackes
    39,00 €

This large twin-engine plane was built for the U.S. Air Force for troop support and anti-tank missions. Despite its extensive amour and armament the A-10 is highly maneuverable which is particularly important to overcome enemy anti-aircraft fire. The Thunderbolt (also called “Warthog”) was practically built around its remarkable 30 mm gun GAU-8, which can perforate tank amour with its special high performance ammunition. The aircraft was widely used during the Gulf War, where it successfully destroyed a few hundred Iraqis vehicles with minimum losses despite the heavy enemy defense of conventional and missile fire power. A.10 Around the mid-2000s, the A-10, updated to "C" standard, has been improved to be in line with the changed and evolved operational needs. The A-10C is, in fact, the most modern version of the robust and reliable strike aircraft able to use the most advanced weapon systems and target acquisition pods. Per saperne di più
