The English Hawks are better known for their role in the Red Arrows Acrobatic Team, but the 176 T.Mk.I versions have been flown successfully in their original roles for more than thirty years, though some were converted into interceptors (T.Mk.IA) between 1983 and 1986. UPGRADED MOULDS The Fiat G -91 was an interesting project, designed in the '50s by the Italian engineer Giuseppe Gabrielli , to develop a light fighter bomber able to perform ground close support and reconnaissance duties. The project was particularly appreciate by several NATO Countries looking for a light, small, low cost, but reliable and maneuverable strike fighter. Further more some pre-production converted machines were used by Italian aerobatic team, the Frecce Tricolori, and knew as G-91 PAN. The G-91, equipped with smoke generators replaced, in 1963, the rather old F-86 Sabre, and equipped the flight line of aerobatic team for almost 20 years. With the characteristic “Frecce Tricolori” blue livery, the G-91 PAN was the protagonist of the most important airshows and events in the ‘60s and ‘70s. The Hawker Hunter, which came into service in the mid-50s, was born from a specific Royal Air Force requirement, in the late 40s, highlighted the need for a jet fighter aircraft similar, in terms of performance, to the American F-86 Sabre and the Soviet MiG-15. Featured by a strong structure, it was able to reach, thanks to its Rolls-Royce Avon engine, 1,150 Km/h. Heavily armed with 4 30 mm. cannons, the Hunter reached the full maturity of the project only with the version F.6 with a better engine performance, reliability and flight autonomy. Later on FGA.9 version, dedicated to ground attack duties, was introduced and featured with four pylons to carry bombs, rockets and additional fuel tanks. Per saperne di più -

ES-3A Shadow The ES-3A Shadow has been derived directly from the famous twin-engines anti-submarine Lockheed S-3 Viking. It was designed as a carrier-based, subsonic, all-weather, long-range, electronic reconnaissance aircraft with the specific purpose to replace the aging EA-3B Skywarrior starting from the beginning of '90s. Basically the ES-3A was developed on modified S-3A where an extensive set of electronic and modern sensors and communication tools replaced the submarine detection and maritime surveillance equipment. The new operating configuration has not changed the flight performance of Lockheed airframe. The ES-3A has in fact a good flight range and it is very reliable. Such features are very appreciate for its new mission profile to support the U.S. Navy fleet in the tactical communications of the various units of the battle group. Per saperne di più -
