35,00 €F-4E Phantom II Italeri Type: Fighter aircrafts Period: Vietnam Country: United States Skill: 3 Model Dim.: 40,0 cm SUPER DECALS SHEET FOR 4 VERSIONS Developed by the American aircraft company McDonnell Douglas the F-4 Phantom II is a tandem two-seat, all-weather, supersonic fighter-bomber. It entered service during the sixties and it is one of the most famous airplanes of the military aviation history. In the original project, it was specifically designed for U.S. Navy but it has been used by all U.S. forces and it obtained a significant commercial success around the World. The F-4E version, specifically developed for the U.S. Air Force, adopted a M61 Vulcan cannon in the nose and it could be armed, to perform air-superiority missions, with AIM-9 Sidewinder and AIM-9 Sparrow air-to-air missiles. Thanks to its two General Electric J-79 powerful jet-engines, the F-4E was able to reach the top speed of 1,240 Knots. After forty years from the set up of the development, the Tornado is, still today, an aircraft with a significant operational capability. The Tornado is a twin-engine, variable sweep wing able to perform well as a low-level supersonic strike aircraft and able to “follow” the ground profile. The most successful commercial version was the ground attack variant IDS (Interdictor and strike). ES-3A Shadow The ES-3A Shadow has been derived directly from the famous twin-engines anti-submarine Lockheed S-3 Viking. It was designed as a carrier-based, subsonic, all-weather, long-range, electronic reconnaissance aircraft with the specific purpose to replace the aging EA-3B Skywarrior starting from the beginning of '90s. Basically the ES-3A was developed on modified S-3A where an extensive set of electronic and modern sensors and communication tools replaced the submarine detection and maritime surveillance equipment. The new operating configuration has not changed the flight performance of Lockheed airframe. The ES-3A has in fact a good flight range and it is very reliable. Such features are very appreciate for its new mission profile to support the U.S. Navy fleet in the tactical communications of the various units of the battle group. Per saperne di più -
