21,00 €This robust helicopter was first intoduced during the mid-fifties and may be the known rotor-blade aircraft world-wide. Reliability is its greatest feature. It was designed for the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war. Thousands of UH-ls are in service as transport, ambulance and attack aircraft. Licensed production in Italy, Germany and Japan make it part of the armed and police forces of more than fifty nations. Presently twin-engine versions (Italeri kit no. 847) are being produced. The Bell OH-58 Kiowa, is not only one of the most famous helicopter in history but is also characterized by an extraordinary longevity and flexibility. The OH-58 has been in continuous use by the U.S. Army, with several versions, since 1969. Derived directly from 206 Jet Ranger model, OH-58 Kiowa was used to perform reconnaissance, observation and advanced tactical support duties. OH-58D series was the result of several developments such as the adoption of a more powerful engine, the introduction of the 4-blade rotor, and the use of MMS above it. The latest version, the OH-58D Kiowa Warrior, is primarily operated in an armed reconnaissance role in support of ground troops thanks to the adoption of two side pylons capable of carrying different combinations of weapons such as AGM-114 Hellfire missiles, Hydra rockets or air-to-air Stinger missiles. Between 1965 and 1968, forty-three HAS.1 models were upgraded to the new standard, easily recognisable for the dorsal dome of the search radar that gave the HAS.3 its nickname “Camel”.Apart from this aspect, the modifications focussed mainly on the flight stabilisation system and the mission equipment, including the more effective Plessey sonar. The weaponry for anti-submarine missions typically consisted of Mk.44 torpedoes, or Mk.11 depth charges.Starting in the mid-1970s, the Wessex HAS.3 was gradually replaced by the Sea King, though it remained in service long enough to participate in the Falklands War. HH-60J U.S. Coast Guard UPGRADED MOULDS The Sikorsky HH-60J "Jayhawk" was identified by the United States Coast Guard - replacing the old and glorious HH-3F Pelican - for search and rescue, maritime patrols, and environmental protection missions. The "Jayhawk" is basically and directly derived from the robust, flexible and highly reliable SH-60 Seahawk used in a huge number by the United States Navy and embarked on all major units of the fleet. The HH-60J Jayhawk is able to fly a crew of four people, in addition to other 6 additional people on board. The HH-60J is normally based on land but it can be also based on the U.S. Coast Guard Cutters. Thanks to its main powerplant, formed by 2 General Electric T700 gas turbines able to provide 1,410 Kw each, the “Jayhawk” is able to reach a maximum speed of 330 Km/h and a cruiser speed of 250 Km/h. Even if the OH-13 has not been the first operational halicopter, it has certainly become the best known choppen of the fifties and sixties world-wide. Oryginally used by the U.S. Army to evacuate during the Korean War, the Sioux was later used in various version for reconnaissance missions. At the begin of the Vietnam War a few dozen Sioux were used and during the midsixties the OH-13 was deployed for training use. In Europe it was built under license in Italy and Great Britain. It was distributed to practically all NATO Force. To-day the Sioux is also widely used for civilian use and police service in many countries. Per saperne di più
