The Battle of Midway (4-7 June 1942) was the defining naval engagement of the Pacific Campaign during WWII. It occurred just six months after Japan’s surprise attack on Pearl Harbor and resulted in a decisive victory for the US Navy (USN). The battle resulted in the loss of four Japanese aircraft carriers, a heavy cruiser, 248 carrier-borne aircraft and 3,057 sailors, a costly blow the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) and its shipbuilding industry couldn’t recover from. One historian even called it “the most stunning and decisive blow in the history of naval warfare.” The IJN attacked Midway Atoll and sought to sweep the USN into oblivion via an ambush. However, the US had been able to break Japanese codes and so the USA sprung its own trap on the Japanese! Cyber-Hobby is proud to announce the release of a 1/72 scale kit of a Japanese Aichi D3A dive-bomber that took part in this fierce battle. Cyber-Hobby has done a sterling job on this 1/72 dive-bomber kit. This time it comes with brand new Cartograf decals that offer a splendid selection of markings suitable for aircraft participating in the Battle of Midway. It uses the same toolings that were created using highly advanced CAD techniques, and the result is an amazingly detailed aircraft. The engine and cockpit are both fully represented. Due to its primary role as a dive-bomber, the model sensibly comes with a payload of a 250kg bomb. And as a carrier-borne aircraft, its 14.37m-wide wings could be folded up to save space. This feature too is carried over into the model; builders can select whether they want the plane to have folded or extended wings. There are no halfway measures when it comes to the detail exhibited on this Midway Aicha Type 99 model! Per saperne di più

Originally, the twin-engine SH-3 Sea King was used primarily in the role of anti-submarine warfare (ASW) by the US Navy (USN). It was also the first amphibious helicopter in the world and it entered USN service in 1961. Various modifications occurred in its lifespan, with a total of 105 SH-3A and SH-3D craft being converted into the versatile SH-3G. The latter was a cargo, utility and transport helicopter used by the USN. In the 1990s the SH-3 Sea King was replaced by the SH-60 Seahawk in the USN. This 1/72 scale Dragon plastic model is well designed and cleverly engineered to induce maximum modeling enjoyment. The fuselage is correctly proportioned and it's furnished with a full level of detail both inside and outside. It has a new part to plug the gap where the sonar was originally located. The foldable rotor blades are made to true scale thickness too. With appropriate Cartograf decal markings for several USN squadrons available, this SH-3G is ready to lift off in service of the navy! This inspired Germany’s own version, the Moskito. Notably, the Moskito used wooden components for its airframe just like its British namesake. It was named after Kurt Tank, the chief designer of the Fw190A, and was known as the Ta154. It was produced by Focke-Wulf late in World War II. Only a few were produced and proved to have less impressive performance than the prototypes. Per saperne di più

IAF UH-1N w/Paratroopers It is not often that Dragon releases a 1/35 scale helicopter, which makes the present time even more exciting! Why? Because Dragon has released a UH-1N helicopter in this scale! The Bell UH-1N Twin Huey first flew in 1969 and it could carry 14 passengers in addition to the pilot. The UH-1N has been widely used by the US Air Force, US Navy and US Marine Corps, but another interesting user nation was Israel. The first Iroquois helicopters that Israel obtained were of the UH-1D type, but in the end it operated a mixed fleet of some 64 UH-1s of various types. Israel used its helicopters in various Middle East conflicts and against Palestinian militants for more than 30 years, before they were all retired in 2002 after being replaced by the UH-60 Black Hawk. This plastic kit of the UH-1N is beautifully detailed, and it looks mightily impressive in this large scale. Cartograf supplies a set of well-registered markings to finish off this Israeli Huey. To make the set even more attractive, Dragon is throwing in a figure set of Israel Defense Forces (IDF) paratroopers. The Paratroopers Brigade is a renowned fighting force in Israel, and the unit has taken part in many missions. The four plastic figures stem from a much earlier release but their quality is still up to today’s standards. Together, the figures and helicopter can create an inspiring scene of air-ground cooperation in the Middle East. UH-1N rendered w/excellent detail Clear-plastic parts for windshield and doors Cabin doors can be assembled open/closed Fuselage rendered with fine details 2.75-inch rocket launcher pods realistically reproduced Paratroopers included.
