ES-3A Shadow The ES-3A Shadow has been derived directly from the famous twin-engines anti-submarine Lockheed S-3 Viking. It was designed as a carrier-based, subsonic, all-weather, long-range, electronic reconnaissance aircraft with the specific purpose to replace the aging EA-3B Skywarrior starting from the beginning of '90s. Basically the ES-3A was developed on modified S-3A where an extensive set of electronic and modern sensors and communication tools replaced the submarine detection and maritime surveillance equipment. The new operating configuration has not changed the flight performance of Lockheed airframe. The ES-3A has in fact a good flight range and it is very reliable. The Corsair is one of the best known airplanes of World War Il which fought against the entire array of aircraft used by the Japanese Forces in the Pacific theatre. After the war the Corsairs were set aside, together with other propeller-driven planes, to expect demolition awaiting replacement by jet aircraft. In 1950, at the outbreak of the Korean conflict, more than one hundred units were re-activated to combat the onslaught of the North Korean Forces. This British aircraft, based on the de Havilland Venom NF.2 night-fighter, was a jet fighter capable of operating from aircraft carriers. To suit this role, it required modifications such as folding wings, a strengthened undercarriage, modified canopy to permit underwater ejection, and a tailhook. The Sea Venom operated as an interceptor with the Royal Navy’s Fleet Air Arm. The first version was designated FAW.20 (Fighter, All-Weather), but Cyber Hobby’s kit represents the subsequent production version known as FAW.21, which first flew in April 1954. It featured a Ghost 104 engine that produced 22.1kN of thrust, radar system derived from the American APS-57, plus a reshaped canopy that provided a clearer view. Production of the FAW.21 ceased in 1957. Sea Venoms participated in such conflicts as the Suez War of 1956 and Cyprus Emergency of 1958. This 1/72 scale kit is the fruit of brand new toolings. Naturally, it’s extremely well engineered to support convenient and easy assembly. This engineering excellence is made manifest in numerous parts produced with the aid of slide molds. Panel lines are sharply and accurately delineated using laser crafting, while the streamlined form of the fuselage and twin-boom tail is realistically captured in its entirety. It has been produced from the early sixties to provide to Armée de l’Air, the French Air Force, a reliable and effective fighter aircraft. The Mirage III rapidly became a commercial success and it was widely exported to several Countries taking part to a lot of conflicts between the seventies and the eighties. Characterised by the delta wing design without horizontal tail plane, thanks to its Snecma Atar afterburning turbojet, it was able to exceed the speed of Mach. After the introduction of the single-seat interceptor Mirage IIIC, a new multirole and strike version has been implemented. The Mirage IIIE was born and it has been a successful version produced in a significant number of units. It was characterised by a forward fuselage extension to permit the installation of the new avionic system. The Mk. IX version was first produced in large numbers at the end of 1942.
