It is by far the most widely used rotating wing aircraft the world has seen. The Huey was extensively used during the Vietnam conflict by the U.S. Forces, mainly in support and attack sorties equipped with various armament. Thanks to its reliability and robust construction the UH-1 was quickly aquired by the armed forces of many countries (among others Italy, Japan, Sweden, and Holland). The Merlin HC3 helicopter is a transport and assault model developed on behalf of the Royal Air Force and based on the anti-submarine aircraft in service with the Italian and British Navies. This version, which is fully equipped with reinforced landing gear and sensors for navigation and self-defense purposes, is capable of carrying a full infantry squad. Other versions of this helicopter, which possesses a large load capacity while giving optimum performance, have been exported to the air forces of other nations for the role of search and rescue, in addition to their main task of transporting troops. Modello: 38,1 cm SUPER DECAL - ISTRUZIONI A COLORI Il primo novembre del 1956 nasceva la componente aerea del Reparto Sperimentale Volo dell’Aeronautica Militare Italiana. Il reparto, altamente specializzato, venne identificato con il distintivo numerico “311°”. Per celebrare i sessant’ anni di attività è stata sviluppata, per un Tornado IDS del Reparto, una speciale livrea che ha riscosso un grande interesse ed è stata particolarmente apprezzata durante la manifestazione commemorativa dell’ ottobre 2016. Il 311mo Gruppo Volo costituisce oggi uno dei centri sperimentali aeronautici tecnologicamente più avanzati ed è formato da personale altamente preparato e qualificato. Most of Israeli pilots that have achieved the “aces” qualification were in service from the 60s, participating in the “Six-day war” in 1967 and in the aerial battles which followed in 1969-70, culminating in the “Yom Kippur war” of 1973, with the Mirage III fighter plane. Many of them remained in service moving on to other types of aircrafts which progressively were handed to the units: F-4 Phantom, Nesher and then F-16. This box is dedicated to some of these pilots that achieved part of their victories with the Mirage III between 1967 and 1973. The Thunderbolt (also called Warthog) was practically built around its remarkable 30 mm gun GAU-8, which can perforate tank armour with its special high performance ammunition. The aircraft was widely used during the Gulf War, where it successfully destroyed a few hundred Iraqui vehicles with minimum losses despite the heavy enemy defense of conventional and missile fire power.
