12,00 €The Corsair is one of the best known airplanes of World War Il which fought against the entire array of aircraft used by the Japanese Forces in the Pacific theatre. After the war the Corsairs were set aside, together with other propeller-driven planes, to expect demolition awaiting replacement by jet aircraft. In 1950, at the outbreak of the Korean conflict, more than one hundred units were re-activated to combat the onslaught of the North Korean Forces. Bretling DC-3 Italeri Type: Cargo Period: Between the two Wars Country: United States Skill: 3 Model Dim.: 27,3 cm A group of fans managed to fly from Florida to Switzerland with a DC-3 built in 1940 and there it was registered as HB-IRJ. Breitling used it as advertising support and the operator is the Super Constellation Flyers Association. On March 12, 1940 the aeroplane was commissioned by American Airlines. Meanwhile, it has accumulated more than 74.000 hours of flight time and is still today in excellent condition. It reached a speed of 250 km/h and the aircraft does not have a pressurised cabin. The crew consists of two pilots and a flight attendant. The DC-3 can even land at airports with a firm or grass runway with a length greater than 1.100 m. Per saperne di più -

The Mk. IX version was first produced in large numbers at the end of 1942. Over the course of its long operational use, this fighter aircraft was used to "transport" beer to lift up the spirits of English troops right after the landing in Normandy in the summer of 1944. Furthermore the “Ariete”, as the RE 2002 was called, had a good storage capacity, able to carry bombs as heavy as 500 kg. The squadrons equipped with this aircraft saw a great deal of action against the Allied fleet invading Sicily in 1943. The A-10 Thunderbolt II was developed by Fairchild Republic in the seventies with the purpose to create, accordingly the needs of USAF, a powerful aircraft capable to perform close air support missions including attacking tanks and armoured vehicles. The Thunderbolt II is heavily armoured and exceptionally tough. It is characterised by the two General Electric turbofan engines and the adoption of one of the most powerful aircraft gun ever flown : the 30 mm. GAU-8/A Avenger Gatling. Thanks to its eleven underwing and under fuselage pillars, the A-10 can carry an impressive offensive pay-load.
