ES-3A Shadow The ES-3A Shadow has been derived directly from the famous twin-engines anti-submarine Lockheed S-3 Viking. It was designed as a carrier-based, subsonic, all-weather, long-range, electronic reconnaissance aircraft with the specific purpose to replace the aging EA-3B Skywarrior starting from the beginning of '90s. Basically the ES-3A was developed on modified S-3A where an extensive set of electronic and modern sensors and communication tools replaced the submarine detection and maritime surveillance equipment. The new operating configuration has not changed the flight performance of Lockheed airframe. The ES-3A has in fact a good flight range and it is very reliable. This cargo helicopter with tandem rotors was designed for the U.S. Army during the Fifties. It can be considered to be the first real reliable helicopter of its category notwithstanding the limits of its piston engines. The H-21 was also purchased by the French Navy which used it during the Algerian war for transport and attack missions. At the same time the West German and Canadian Armies acquired the choppers for supply and support roles. F4U - 5N CORSAIR - MODEL SET - The Corsair is one of the best known airplanes of World War Il which fought against the entire array of aircraft used by the Japanese Forces in the Pacific theatre. After the war the Corsairs were set aside, together with other propeller-driven planes, to expect demolition awaiting replacement by jet aircraft. In 1950, at the outbreak of the Korean conflict, more than one hundred units were re-activated to combat the onslaught of the North Korean Forces.
