Mirage 2000D is the two-seat ground attack version of the famous multi-role fighter of the French Dassault entered in service around the mid ‘90s. Designed and developed around the delta wing lay-out, typical of the Dassault production, Mirage 2000 is able to overcome, thanks to the M53 engine thrust with afterburner, the speed of mach 2. The elegant shape of the delta wing also provides exceptional maneuverability at high speeds. Furthermore the maneuverability is improved thanks to "fly by wire" command system and a very advanced on board electronic constantly evolved and updated. The armament of the Mirage 2000D is, in addition to the 2 DEFA 30mm cannons, formed by air-air missiles for self-defense, conventional bombs, air-ground missiles and laser-guided bombs for precision strikes. The F-84F was assigned to the 6th Wing, stationed at Ghedi, which, in addition to traditional operational uses, employed the aircraft for the establishment of the "Red Devils" aerobatic team. The livery of the acrobatic team’s 7 Thunderstreaks featured red wings and the symbol of the Devil with his trident. It entered service during the sixties and it is one of the most famous airplanes of the military aviation history. In the original project, it was specifically designed for U.S. Navy but it has been used by all U.S. forces and it obtained a significant commercial success around the World. The F-4E version, specifically developed for the U.S. Air Force, adopted a M61 Vulcan cannon in the nose and it could be armed, to perform air-superiority missions, with AIM-9 Sidewinder and AIM-9 Sparrow air-to-air missiles. Thanks to its two General Electric J-79 powerful jet-engines, the F-4E was able to reach the top speed of 1,240 Knots.
