He grasped that humans are too heavy, and not strong enough, to fly using wings simply attached to the arms. Helicopter Leonardo da Vinci Italeri This machine, which is considered the ancestor of the modern helicopter,appears in a drawing dated roughly 1480 contained in theCodex Atlanticus. Leonardo outlines the plan for an “aerial screw”imagining it as a worm screw with a diameter of approximately 5metres, in his intentions, it should have “screwed itself” in air takingadvantage of its density. Moved by the muscle strength of four menwalking on the central platform, it consisted of a wooden structurecovered with starched linen cloth. The first kit shows the Lunar Module (LM), christened Eagle, which landed on the southern Sea of Tranquility on July 20, 1969. The first astronaut to set foot on lunar soil was Neil Armstrong, followed by Buzz Aldrin. The LM spent less than 24 hours on the Moon’s surface, while the Command Module (CM) named Columbia orbited above. The spacecraft then returned to Earth on 24 July, splashing down in the Pacific Ocean. In this larger scale, the LM model possesses even more refined detail. The kit utilizes all-new toolings to match the new scale. Of special note is the heat-reflecting material under the module. The wrinkled surface is pre-painted in the appropriate gold color. Since it’s difficult for modelers to paint this reflective material realistically, such a thoughtful touch will save time and will result in an even higher-quality model. The LM is depicted in its landing mode with four legs outstretched. PRM booklet not included from september 2013 This model represents one of Leonardo da Vinci's most intriguing designs. It has been known as "Leonardo's Automobile" but recent studies consider it one of the first robots in history. The machine is drawn on folio 812/r/ of the Codex Atlanticus together with other devices.
