After German forces had swept across Western Europe as undisputed champion in 1940, the lone resistance came from the British Isles. It was planned that Germany would conduct an amphibious invasion of Great Britain under the codename Operation Sea Lion, and to this end a number of Panzer IIIs were especially converted into diving tanks. These were known as the Tauchpanzer III, and they had the ability to drive along the seafloor totally submerged thanks to a breathing apparatus. During the planned invasion, they would have been lowered from ships onto the seafloor near the coast and they could then drive onto the shore. In the end these tanks were not used to cross the English Channel as it was decided to bring Britain to its knees via the Luftwaffe instead. Per saperne di più -

The M4 variant, powered by a Continental radial engine and armed with a 75mm main gun, was deployed by American, British, Polish and Canadian units. This broad range of users in the tense battles for Normandy opens up new possibilities for modelers of this kit. This exciting new release, the first from Dragon in 2009, shows a welded-hull variant. This kit has received many new parts and extensive retooling to accurately replicate particular M4 characteristics like the thickened armor plates on the turret sides. Newly tooled components include a slide-molded upper hull, turret, engine deck and rear engine-compartment doors. The T51 tracks made from DS are also brand new. Multimedia parts such as photo-etched sand-shield brackets and engine ventilator covers are also included. For modelers wishing to depict a Sherman fighting through the thick Normandy hedgerows and bocage, or dueling with Panthers and Tigers of desperate German defenders, this kit is a dream come true! 15,00 €The box-top illustration shows four Soviet soldiers dressed for winter combat. They wear uniform gear such as greatcoats, sheepskin jackets, toques, mittens/gloves and fur boots. The action poses are very suitable for depicting a combat scene in the snow and ice, and the sculpting of the plastic is sharp and realistic. The soldiers also wield weapons suitable for this time period of 1941, including Mosin-Nagant rifles and a DP28 light machine gun. Of course the figures could also find application in a different setting (in the winter fighting against Finland, for example) so they will prove very versatile. Dragon is releasing a 1/35 scale figure set depicting this battle. The four soldiers are French infantrymen, making this Dragon’s first WWII French infantry subject! The set depicts four Frenchmen defending their positions on the outskirts of Sedan. They wear typical uniforms of the day, and carry suitable weapons such as the Fusil mitrailleur modèle 1924 M29 (FM 24/29) light machine gun, plus MAS Modèle 36 rifles. One of the officers is even smoking a pipe, giving this figure a nice touch of character. The poses are well designed, and their molding is sharp and realistic. The set features four separate soldiers, each distinctively dressed and armed. They reflect the range of clothing such as parkas, greatcoats, snow suits and reversible insulated winter suits that were available to soldiers, as well as a variety of different headgear. Their range of weaponry includes a brand new Gew 33/40 rifle, Gew 43 self-loading rifle, MG42 machine gun and anti-tank 8.8cm Raketenpanzerbrüchse. The poses are well sculpted and detail definition on the soldiers is simply superb. Their mostly static poses mean the 1/35 scale figures will be easily incorporated into “White Hell” dioramas or vignettes of the modeler’s choosing. The figures depict various useful poses that will find application in all sorts of vignettes and dioramas. The soldiers wield weapons suitable for their unit and time period, including an MP40 submachine gun, a Kar98k rifle, a signal flare pistol and a Mauser C96 pistol. Two of the soldiers are wearing the special camouflage-pattern smocks that were so popular amongst German units, and these are incredibly well portrayed in plastic. Dragon has released a new 1/35 scale figure set depicting German soldiers during Operation Marita in 1941. The four newly tooled figures are beautifully sculpted in lifelike poses. To illustrate their practicality for a range of settings, their uniforms show interesting variety such as NCO breeches and a tank commander’s jacket. Even the badges on their jackets are sharply molded. These four German soldiers will fit admirably in a figure or vehicle diorama depicting the Greek campaign, and in fact they’re versatile enough to fit any theater of that period of WWII.
